We wish to thank everyone who supported the market fundraiser while ...our stallholders were at the Helensvale Hornets. While it's been great to spend time up at the hornets, we are pleased to be home and hope to see you all this Saturday at Helensvale State High School. See more
19.01.2022 Here is a survey for anyone interested in their neighbourhoods. The survey is Australia wide. Survey closes Sunday 8 March.
18.01.2022 2 Sickle Avenue, Hope Island I have recently been asked to approve the proposed application for the old Village Square site via a delegated authority. Due t...o the changes required to the City’s meeting schedule by the COVID-19 restrictions, a monthly meeting cycle has been created. The exercising of a delegation now ensures that the application will be dealt with in a timely manner. This is a significant project for the Hope Island area, and ordinarily, I would have much preferred for the approval to have been dealt with through the usual committee process. However we do currently live in interesting times, and we do have to continue to operate the best we can during these times. The proposal comprises of:- 348 retirement living units in a mix of 2 and 3 bedroom units (total 853 bedrooms or 300 bedrooms per net hectare) GFA - 43,421.4m2 Site cover Podium 77.8% & Towers 26.3% Retail and business uses - TUA of 772m2 and are intended to include a range of complementary tenancies - Food & Drink Outlet, Health Care Services, Office and Shop. 10m wide Open space recreation linkage park provided Built form includes a single storey podium with five towers above Height of 8 storeys - 29.206m Car parking 517 cars in ground level podium car park Podium car parking has been sleeved to the streetscapes, adjoining property and canal via a combination of ground level villas, retail tenancies, communal recreation facilities and landscaping / screen treatments. The design accommodates retail uses to the streetscape to support an activated urban street edge. Landscape plaza on podium roof Public boardwalk (Trunk infrastructure to be dedicated to Council) It is important to note the application was required to be advertised to the public, and there were no submissions received. The height, density, car parking and open space (private and public) comply with the City Plan without relaxations. The proponent has recently spent just under a million dollars in clearing the old Village Square buildings from the site; and I am aware that they have a local building company in place for Stage 1 building works. Happy to discuss.

15.01.2022 #NOISEALERT || Shout out to the residents of Brisbane, Ipswich, Darling Downs and the Gold Coast! Some of our troops will be conducting training over the next w...eek in your area. There will be helicopters flying at night and early in the morning, at a low altitude. Please ensure you let your family, friends and any neighbours know that this training will be occurring. This training is part of #AusArmy's regular training schedule and is designed to ensure #OurPeople are operating at the highest level of capability to respond where required, to support Australia's national interests. We acknowledge that these activities may result in disturbances to local residents. This disruption will be minimised wherever possible. You should not be alarmed if you see low-flying helicopters or hear the associated noise. We appreciate the support of the local community during this important training period. The training is being conducted in a manner that accounts for COVID-19 restrictions and good health management processes. Individuals with concerns should contact Defence via: 1300 333 362. #Army #DarlingDowns #Ipswich #Brisbane

13.01.2022 Wow this is just so cool!! In Denmark people started an initiative called "The Human Libray". Inside certain libraries you can choose to 'borrow' a person - ins...tead of a book - to listen to the history of their life for about 30 minutes. The point? Limiting prejudice. Everyone has a 'title' such as 'Unemployed', 'Refugee', 'Bipolar', or what have you - but wonce we listen to their story, we will always be given reasons to realize even deeper - why we should never "judge a book by its cover" ;) <3 An innovative and brilliant project that by now is active in fifty countries! An initiative of The Human Library <3 (https://humanlibrary.org/)
12.01.2022 New Respiratory Clinic now open.
12.01.2022 An important message for the men in our lives and our community!
10.01.2022 2 Park Cove Blvd, Hope Island I have been asked by City Officers for consent to have a delegated authority request for the approval of an application to subdivi...de the final stage of Park Cove into nine freehold lots (seven with driveway access to Sickle Avenue). The proposal will see two storey detached dwellings (9m), with a residential density of one dwelling per 440m2. The Officers recommendation is for approval subject to conditions. The application is code assessable, and accordingly no submissions were received in relation to the application, which complies with all relevant performance outcomes of the City Plan. #HopeIsland #Approvals

05.01.2022 Hi everyone, I’m a 17 year old and I have recently got my my Ps as well as a nice suv, I thought I’d do my part in the wake of the pandemic and Woolworths susp...ending home delivery. I’d like to offer offer anyone that needs it, lifts to the shops or even picking up and delivering your groceries to your home, pushing the trolly and assisting you getting it inside and put away. I thought a small donation but only if you can to help me with fuel etc, would be fair and much appreciated. Just wanting to give back to the senior community as well as anyone struggling at the moment. Thanks, Lachie. See more
02.01.2022 Just wanted to share this for anyone who may need it . It was posted by The Local at Paradise Point .... THIS HIT HOME a message from the owner: On Tuesday I ...went to Woollies to do my personal grocery shopping and I walked in to empty shelves, and not just the toilet paper isle, but many staple item shelves were stripped bare. There was a feeling of confusion and ‘stress’ in the atmosphere but I continued to go about my shopping and managed to get one of the last bags of rice on the shelf. As I walked back past that isle a few minutes later, I noticed an elderly lady standing in front of the shelf, staring blankly. I asked her what she was looking for and she said rice whilst look at the empty shelf. My heart melted and I gave her mine. She began to cry explaining that she is on a pension and rice makes up a big part of her diet on her strict weekly budget. It broke me! We cried together in the isle of woollies, gave each other a cuddle and went on our way. This short encounter got me thinking, how many others in our community are struggling to get their essential items from our usual grocery shops?! We want to help! As a Local business we believe in supporting our Locals so we are putting together a $50 food package as pictured below. We are doing these at not for profit but providing a way that some of our senior locals can get some staple groceries with out the push, shove and stress. This is an offer for senior card holders only which must be presented at time of pick up. Limited availability subject to supply. Please call 0414 777 151 to order. $50 PACKAGE CONTAINS: 1kg Long grain rice 1kg Spaghetti 1kg Waygu Australian Beef mince 1kg Chicken tenders 1kg Premium bacon 1 dozen large eggs #itsok #thelocalpp #pasta #rice #mince #meat #foodpackage #bekind #seniors #paradisepoint #paradisepointcommunity #theresnofoodshortage #donthoard #helpyourneighbours
