08.01.2022 Given the amount of rain that we've had over the past few days and with the forecast not looking that much better, what better time than to take into consideration some driving tips when it comes to wet weather. 1) Wait until the weather improves if possible - delay your trip. 2) Check your vehicles equipment - Make sure your headlights, tail lights and windscreen wipers are all operational. Make sure your tyres are in good condition with adequate depth. 3) Slow Down - Reduce... your speed at all times in the wet, your vehicles reaction time is much slower on wet roads. 4) Turn on your headlights - This will increase your own and other drivers ability to see your vehicle on the road. 5) Use your windscreen wipers - Adjust the speed to suit the rain. 6) Maintain a safe distance to other vehicles - Adjust your safety margin to at least 3 seconds. 7) Watch out for standing water - This will cause aqua planing and could cause the vehicle to lose control. 8) Avoid Heavy braking - Heavy braking can cause a loss in the vehicles traction with road. 9) Ventilate the interior of the car - Use the cars air-conditioning and demister, or partially lower a window to stop the windows of the vehicle becoming foggy and reducing visibility. 10) If its Flooded Forget It - Don't put yours or others lives in danger.
