22.01.2022 I was lucky enough to catch up with the Mayor of Hope Vale Aboriginal Shire Council Jason Woibo today to discuss what his community needed. Under the Palaszczu...k Labor Government I have been able to help Hope Vale get: $4.5 Million to finish sealing the road between Cooktown and Hope Vale; and $3.58 Million to support improvements in local housing; and At least $ 5.3 Million under the Works for Queensland Program. Mayor Jason is a great advocate for his community and exhibits leadership. I always find it inspirational to meet other strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders fighting for their communities. I look forward to working with Mayor Woibo in the future and helping Hope Vale thrive.

17.01.2022 Hope Vale’s Renewed Approach to Alcohol Management We Need Your Input Council is seeking community input to help revise the Hope Vale Council Community Safety Plan and Hope Vale’s Alcohol Management Plan. This consultation aligns with the Qld Government’s ‘renewed approach to alcohol’. Until early November, Council will be using different ways to consult with the community about: minor changes to alcohol carriage limits, ... community safety, health and wellbeing, sly grog and home brew, and how to promote a healthier culture and attitude to alcohol.
