23.01.2022 HAND SANITIZER Compounded Hand Sanitizer Available Monday after 2.30pm at Hopetoun Chemist Monday from 10.30am at Ravensthorpe Pharmacy ... 200ml (100 applications) Per Family - $5 (please bring your own container) Ideal container would be 200 - 500ml with a pump action or flip top lid Currently there is a shortage of proprietary, alcohol based, hand sanitisers. This shortage has resulted from the sudden and unexpected demand caused by COVID-19 disease. In the interim we have a compounded suitable replacement product based upon the formula recommended by the Australian Society for Compounding Pharmacists. This product is a 70% Ethanol based, gel hand sanitiser, very similar to proprietary products like Aqium. We only have a limited amount currently, as production is time consuming and fiddley. However, I will continue to attempt production of more over the next week. Finally, I will continue to attempt to produce more until proprietary products are available again. Remember that hand washing with simple soap and water is still the best option in combination with social distancing.

12.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Both pharmacies will continue to provide services to the Ravensthorpe Shire Area during this emergency. The safety of both staff and patient/customers in our community is the first priority for Siearra and I. To create the safest possible experience for everybody visiting the pharmacies we have introduced a protocol that requires "Social Distancing" , notification of respiratory tract symptoms prior to pharmacy entry and use of hand sanitiser prior to touchin...g pharmacy stationary. Further information regarding these procedures are provided at the entry to both pharmacies. Australia has a robust and effective health care system and very well adapted supply chains for pharmaceuticals across the country. While there are some medications currently unavailable, the wait time for replenishment is usually only a matter of days. Excessive purchase or hoarding of pharmaceuticals is the single most important driver for these temporary shortages. We are no longer able to supply more than one month of prescription medications and 21 day intervals between supplies are now being enforced. I don’t give any answers because seri...ously... who has ‘em... but I did maybe want to remind everyone of our own agency, even when there’s a crazy ass pandemic raging. Also, feel free to reply in the comments about what you’re thinking and feeling about this gigantic shit show - because it’s nice to not feel alone while the media has us believing that the zombie apocalypse is nigh. The scientific definition of connection is: the shit. And it is... the shit. Not to mention it’s available to all of us. So, instead of grabbing onto your toilet paper like your life depended on a clean ass, grab onto your people instead (whether online or off). It’s a bit of a rush job so I again apologise about it not being super duper pretty but I think it’s more important to get conversation out there than freaking out about design composition. See more
