19.01.2022 Friday shout out to all engineers The Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) spends years learning, utilizing, and honing their unique set of skills. These are the guys entrusted with troubleshooting, fixing, testing, and returning to service the aircraft under their care. They often perform their jobs under harsh environmental conditions, day or night, and regardless of whether it is crammed and sweltering hot inside the tail compartment or freezing cold out on the ramp. Th...e AMT works like a detective, a computer wizard, and a surgeon. First, he (or she) reviews the entries in the techlog, takes statements from the pilots, and carefully examines the evidence. Second, he uses his computer skills to determine, locate, and then order whatever components are needed. Third, with the focus of a surgeon, he uses specialized tools to remove the defective components. Then, with that same focus, and precision, he proceeds to install any new components. Once he has performed this delicate task, he tests it and double checks his work. Finally, satisfied with the quality of his work, he completes the paperwork and releases the aircraft for flight. Kudos to these consummate professionals for the manner in which they perform such a critical job. #aviationmaintenance
