12.01.2022 This week, Mark Zuckerberg published a blog post where he shares his vision for the future of Facebook and it’s not the greatest read if you’re an advertiser that’s heavily reliant on the Facebook platform. Essentially, Facebook is looking to make Facebook a more private and secure platform and he sees them moving from a feed focus to a 1 to 1 messenger focus. Facebook as a massive public company, has to ensure a viable and investable business and still needs to grow their ea...rnings, which means ads aren't going anywhere but we think things will look very different in the near future and advertising on Facebook will become more and more challenging. For us, that means diversity in your media plan is critical and needs to be done ASAP. At Hopkins Digital we have clients utilising Spotify, Pinterest, YouTube, OutBrain and other platforms as we prepare for changes that Facebook is preparing for. This means we de-risk the reliance on any one channel. My advice... ensure your budgets and business model allows you to allocate 10% of your media budget for testing new channels. Get ahead of the curve, get the knowledge and get the competitive edge through diversity and lowering the reliance of any one channel as well as learning how different channels work together.
