A new project in Alice Springs will test Battery Storage Systems through a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) to help reduce power outages that have affected the area for years. "This will be done through a series of sub-projects including a grid-scale battery system and a residential battery trial for up to 50 customers, with batteries aggregated into a virtual power plant and controlled to provide voltage support to the network. The project will also implement tariff reforms to facilitate higher uptake of residential batteries among solar households."

The 'Urban Forest' project will boast over 1,000 trees and 20,000 plants on the exterior of the building Koichi Takada Architects have designed the building to promote natural light and cross-ventilation.
