23.01.2022 Here is a wonderful resource for those experiencing symptoms of stress and a free course on how to shift your behaviour to better handle stress. The resource is based out of UNSW, St Vincents Hospital, and CRUfAD so it has credibility. What is really interesting is that there is very little if any discussion on the best way to determine levels of stress other than a visit to a psychologist. As you can see from the graph below there is a very high correlation between stress... levels and performance and of course we all want to be at peak performance. Here at MyHormonesandMe and SALPATH Functional Pathology we can objectively measure your immediate stress levels through saliva testing and measure your long term exposure to stress through hair hormone analysis. We are the only laboratory to offer this service direct to the public. Write to us at [email protected] or visit our website at MyHormonesandMe.com or Salpath.com.au for more information. 17.01.2022 #health #humanbody #hormones Welcome back to a new insightful story in our series about human health. Today, let’s learn a little more about human body and the important systems in the human body. The Nervous System is comprised of the Central Nervous System (CNS) which is the brain and the spinal cord and the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) which all the nerves that come from and go to the spinal cord from the body (mainly arms, legs and torso).... The nervous system can be thought of being at the top of the hierarchy in controlling the function of other systems. The nervous system predominantly produces neurotransmitters for communication but is also known to produce hormones and cytokines. The Endocrine System is comprised of various organs/glands located at the base of the brain and throughout the body such as the adrenals, thyroid, pancreas and the gonads. The endocrine glands predominantly produce hormones for communication but is also known to produce neurotransmitters and cytokines. The Immune System is comprised of various glands and structures such as the spleen and thymus glands, the lymphatic vessels and lymphatic nodes, bone marrow and tonsils. The immune system also has important cells that clean up debris such as macrophages, which get rid of invading cells such as T-cells and antibody producing cells such as B-cells. Communication within the immune system is achieved mainly by the use of cytokines, however immune cells can also produce and respond to neurotransmitters and hormones. We can simplify the human body if we imagine it to be made up of millions and millions of individual units called cells. Cells are organized into functional units called tissues which make up organs. Organs are collectively organized into systems, such as the nervous system, the endocrine system, the immune system, the digestive system, and so on. Three of the most important of these body systems is the Nervous System, the Endocrine System and the Immune System due to their ability to control other systems and cells via communicating molecules. 03.01.2022 Hi All A Boston University study published a couple of days ago has concluded that people with a positive outlook on life live 10% longer. That is a further 7-10 years over ones lifetime. People with a positive outlook have overall less cortisol and inflammatory cytokines. This means less stress equals longevity. So do you know what your stress and inflammatory levels are. Head on to myhormonesandme.com, or salpath.com.au to see the range of hormone testing services we offer and order your kit.
