16.01.2022 Update on the remainder of 2020 BMXNSW racing calendar. 2020 State Series Round 6 Clarence Valley 1st November 2020 Cancelled Covid 19 has presented Claren...ce Valley BMX Club and BMXNSW with some challenges in delivering the BMXNSW State Series Round 6 at the Clarence Valley BMX track. This outcome does not reflect the tireless hours that Clarence Valley BMX Club have expended in trying to come to an arrangement with their local community and Council. We thank Clarence Valley BMX for all their efforts, not just in trying to get this event over the line, but for the work they have put in over the course of this year preparing to host NSW Riders. Stay tuned and Save the Date! We are enacting new arrangements and will post further information, if successful. The reason we are communicating advice is to allow members to cancel accommodation held in Clarence Valley region and to get prepared for entries to open for the new location. 2020 State Series Round 7 San Remo 15 November 2020 preparations are well underway San Remo BMX Club are in advanced stages of preparing for this event. As soon as formal approval is received from Council, we will get entries open. 2020 NSW State Championships will not go ahead. When we announced in August the cancellation of the State Championships in October, we committed to investigating options to run the Championships later in the year. BMXNSW, in consultation with Auscycling, has been working to try and make this happen. Unfortunately, despite our best intentions and efforts, it is simply not possible to run the event this year. We thank you in advance for your understanding; we are doing our best to provide you with Covid Safe racing events in what has been an unprecedented and disruptive year. Change to State Series points. In 2020, there is no minimum events to be eligible for State Series points. The ‘Top 3’ riders in each race class will be those sitting in positions 1, 2 and 3 after the last round of the State Series has been run. Positions will be calculated by using the riders’ best 3 event points. Note that ties in NSW are broken by using the following method: The competitor with the highest number of points earned, in a single event, that counts towards their series total, is awarded the better rank. If a tie remains, the next highest points for each competitor are compared, and so on, until all events that contribute to their series total are exhausted. Competitors who still cannot be separated will share the same rank. There will be no change to the Pro Series points. 16.01.2022 Colbee Park in McGraths Hill is one of our most used, and most neglected sports fields. Despite near constant use from the Oakville United Soccer Club, the Oakv...ille Raiders Baseball Club, the Hawkesbury Hornets BMX Club, frequented by dog-walkers and near the pleasant wetlands of Killarney creek, the park also suffers from limited parking that turns into a quagmire with a breath of rain, insufficient seating, has little shade, an open drain that cuts the park in two, and buildings so inadequate that sports clubs have had to use shipping containers to stow their clubs gear. The baseball club lost all their uniforms and gear when it flooded earlier this year. Hopefully, this can begin to change. Council will consider the exhibition of a new masterplan for Colbee Park at our next meeting. The plan includes upgraded fields, new play equipment, better parking, proper amenities and storage for clubs (including a female change room), seating and shade structures, a Pump BMX Track, and a footbridge over the Creek for nearby Arndell school. The only thing missing is funding to make it happen within ten years. Ill keep advocating on that front. 02.01.2022 As some of you may have read below, it is with regret that Hawkesbury Hornets announce we will no longer be hosting the 2020 BMX State Championships. Given the current pandemic and circumstances which surround us, it was not possible for us to come to a suitable arrangement to hold such an event. We are hopeful that in the near future the opportunity will arise again. In the meantime we look forward to continue to invest in the growth of the club and ongoing improvements of the track and surrounds.
