21.01.2022 Cancellation of Monday's Demonstration. Sadly, we have to report that Vikki Jackson, our February Guest Artist, has injured her ankle and will be unable to attend. Regretfully, we have had to cancel tomorrow's Demonstration, hopefully to re-schedule for later in the year. We wish Vikki a speedy recovery.

17.01.2022 HAS YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION 2020 We're so pleased to announce the launch of the seventh annual Hornsby Young Artists Competition. Entries are now open and close on Friday 27 March. The Exhibition will be open from 31 March - 9 April 2020. Thanks to our sponsors Sydney Art School, Fire Horse Design and Jadele Framing, we're pleased to offer prizes in four age categories: 5-7 years... 8-11 years 12-15 years and 16-18 years. Prizes include cash awards, terms of lessons from Sydney Art School and Art Resource Kits. This year our theme is - Space. We've been inspired by the 50th Anniversary of the NASA Moon landing in 2019, and the 30th Anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope in 2020. We know that space travel is a great inspiration for all ages, and we're looking forward to seeing what inspires our young artists in 2020 based on this theme. More Info & How to Enter? Head to our website: www.hornsbyartsociety.com.au for the Entry Form and more information.

09.01.2022 Volunteers Exhibition 2020 Postponed. Following the recent World Health Organisation declaration of a pandemic and information received from the NSW Department of Health, Hornsby Art Society has taken the decision to postpone the current HAS Volunteers Exhibition. We have taken this decision to protect our members many of whom may be at a heightened risk if they were to contract the virus and also to ensure that our exhibition is seen by the widest audience as possible. We ...believe the next two-three weeks will be a vital time to slow the spread of the virus and to enable our health services to adequately deal with the presented confirmed cases. Our intention for this year is to combine our Volunteers Exhibition which was scheduled for March, with our HAS Members Exhibition, which is scheduled to be on exhibition from 16-26 July. We are hoping that the Coronavirus situation will have sufficiently resolved itself by this time. We thank all members and volunteers who have submitted an entry for this Volunteers Exhibtiion. We will hold your Entry Form until the Members Exhibition and will advise you of the new delivery, pick up and opening event details in a future email closer to the date. We hope that you all support our decision which we believe is in everyone's best interest. Our thanks for your understanding - the team at Hornsby Art Society

09.01.2022 POSTPONED - 2020 YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION We're so very disappointed to advise that given current conditions we are forced to postpone the 2020 Young Artists Competition which was scheduled for early April as part of Youth Week activities. We've run this event in partnership with Sydney Art School for the last six years and provided lots of opportunities for the next generation of local artists to enjoy their first competition and exhibition. ... We want to keep this event going for many years to come. However, following continued spread of COVID-19 and the ongoing changes to public events issued by the Commonwealth and State Departments of Health, we've taken the decision that in the interests of all involved: our volunteers, the parents and families and our young artists themselves our most prudent approach is to postpone the event at this time. We won't use the word cancel; our competition is simply postponed - and you can rest assured we will be staging this event as soon as we can, depending on government guidelines. For those of you budding young artists at home - please use this time to prepare your work. The theme and the guidelines will not change, simply the timing of the exhibition. Make use of this delay to prepare a truly spectacular work (or more than one: remember you can enter up to three works), research your theme and expand your creative imagination and artistic talents to focus on the theme of 'space.' For those of you who are looking for options at home, please be aware that starting in Term 2, Sydney Art School will be offering virtual web-based art classes starting on 28 April. if you'd like more information please follow them on Facebook via the link or check out their website: https://sydneyartschool.com.au/ We hope that you all support our decision which we believe is in everyone's best interest in these challenging times. Our thanks for your understanding - the team at Hornsby Art Society
