23.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY - Today, is Remembrance Day, a day where we come together to remember those who have died or suffered for Australia’s cause in all wars and armed conflicts. Historically, the day marks the time at 11 am on 11 November 1918 when the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare during World War I. More than 100 years on, we are not without our own challenges, but we still owe a great deal to those who fought bravely for... Australia. It is important we acknowledge those contributions so the memories of those that have fallen live on for generations to come. #lestweforget2020

14.01.2022 SOUTH AUSTRALIA ALERT | NSW Health is asking people coming from South Australia, by whatever mode of transport, to complete a declaration form to check if they have visited any of the venues of concern identified by the South Australian authorities and provide contact details if follow-up is required. This also applies to people who have been in South Australia within the past 14 days. The form is available here: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/.../d1966e43-d4a7-4090... They must immediately self-isolate if they have been to any venues where this is advised, and get tested if even the mildest of symptoms appear. Travellers who are not NSW residents who have visited any of these venues will not be permitted to travel to NSW until the 14-day period has elapsed. Non-residents wishing to transit through NSW will be allowed to do so, provided they take the most direct route and can do so in a way that poses no risk to others. The form will be distributed to South Australian travellers arriving at NSW transport hubs such as airports, and in areas such as Broken Hill which is a high-traffic location. Travellers are asked to fill in the form within the 24-hour period before they arrive in NSW, and may be asked to produce their declaration form. NSW Health continues to advise NSW residents to defer non-essential travel to Adelaide, while people from Adelaide should defer non-essential travel to NSW.
12.01.2022 SUPPORTIVE CARE | For Vincenzo Tassone, his independence has always been important and he wasn’t going to let something like heart failure keep him off his feet for too long. The former Willoughby fruit shop owner has benefited from working with Cardiac Supportive Care Transitional Nurse Practitioner Kelly Hanvey, allowing him to live at home with his wife Barbara at his side and avoid hospital. In the five short months since commencing in the role Kelly has already seen bene...fits for patients like Vincenzo and countless others. I’m here to help create that bridge between cardiology and palliative care, Kelly said. Linking with Hornsby Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital and Ryde Hospital, Kelly has developed a simple aim; starting the journey earlier to help make it easier. We’re hoping to improve quality of life and symptom control for patients. We’re also hoping to reduce readmission rates into hospital and avoidance of ICU, develop collaborative and integrated services she said. It’s not about end of life care, it’s about supportive care and it should start at an earlier phase of the patient journey. See more
