19.01.2022 Greetings all, The impact of untreated mental illness is the least to say devastating in the wake of the tragic suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. Theres no need to let mental illness take control of your life even though it may be difficult to believe for those suffering. ... While there is no cure as such, the active participation by those suffering from depression, anxiety or any other mental illnesses with their GP and/or clinical psychologist can provide them with the right tools such that it doesnt become overwhelming. Theres more to depression than felling "down", "sad" or "blue". Remember youre not alone, nor should you ever feel ashamed to ask for help. If you need assistance, advice or someone to talk to there are wonderful national help lines available. https://www.beyondblue.org.au//national-help-lines-and-web Best wishes, Reception

03.01.2022 Its that time of year again. Preparing ourselves for the flu season. Regardless of whether you have a Medicare card, the flu vaccine itself is FREE for all at our practice. If youre looking to have staff immunised at your business within Hornsby were happy to come to you. N.B: for those who do not have a medicare card, you will only be charged for its administration amounting to $37.05. Call (02) 8310 0452 to enquire. ... As we need to accommodate for individuals and business requiring a flu shot, we kindly ask you to make a booking either on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. When and Why is This Important? But, getting the jab at the right time can be a tricky dilemma: To get the jab earlier than April, or not. That is the question: Whether tis nobler in the mind to know that youve been immunised early or to know you havent missed the peak of flu activity. It doesnt need to trickle into a dramatic soliloquy. The peak flu season varies, but its generally around July and August. At our practice, we advise getting your flu jab late April and into the beginning of May, as the effectiveness of the flu vaccine may decrease after three to four months (Wills, 2018). As you may have noticed pharmacies have been offering the vaccine as early as March. This presents a trade-off as mentioned earlier. Heres a short explanation of how vaccines work. They induce an adaptive immune response within an individual such that antibodies are generated to recognise pathogens should our body encounter them You may feel unwell after getting your jab. Dont be dissuaded by this as your body is preparing itself should it be infected with the flu. Getting the jab every year is important as the virus itself mutates and changes. Hope this post has been informative as well as entertaining. Should you have any questions feel free to email us at [email protected], comment on this post or call us on (02) 8310 0452.
