16.01.2022 Have you ever encountered bias? You would be hard pressed not to have. It is such a fundamental but unconscious part of how we make decisions. Sometimes it is positive - we choose for something and sometimes it is negative - we choose against something. ... Bias can cause you to overlook the good and concentrate on the negative. It can cause you to miss how you accept something as 'proven fact' when it is actually just your bias talking. This International Women's Day theme is about challenging the gender biases inherent in our workplaces, sport, education and the arts. In fact anywhere it shows up. We are choosing this theme ( and in particular how it affects Rural Women) for our Conversation In The Paddock on 6th March. We would love you to join us and be part of the conversation. Details in the comments below.

13.01.2022 Confirmation bias affects us all and is something to look out for. To be aware of the possibility makes the unconscious, conscious. The same applies to gender bias. If we do not question, do not challenge bias, nothing changes.

05.01.2022 When we set our Program for 2021 we missed that our first workshop co-coincided with International Women's Day. Now we know we are going to take the opportunity, rather than to run the Kindness and Compassion workshop we will again hold a "Conversation in the Paddock" around the 2021 IWD Theme of #choosetochallege . So what is a "Conversation in the Paddock? It is a conversation circle giving everyone the opportunity to explore what the topic means to them. How it affects the...m or those they know and love. To explore ways to be supported if needed or to give to support To become enthused and empowered to make a difference. And in a Paddock? Well we are outside in the fresh air, we are surrounded by nature and the horses are present to lend us their energy. Through all our years of working with people and horses we have found there is just something about being in the presence of the horses that relaxes people an allows them to open up. A perfect footing for a conversation circle. The "Circle" will take place at Blandford on Saturday March 6th. More details and a way to book in will be forthcoming.

01.01.2022 Hence why our topic for our March Conversation in the paddock is gender bias. It is not necessarily concious. It usually isn't- though it often is!

01.01.2022 Our 2020 Conversation in the Paddock held in Dungog was a great day with stimulating conversation. Join us this year at Blandford (Upper Hunter) for our second Annual International Women's Day Conversation. Let's celebrate our achievements and discuss how challenging and changing gender bias in our communities benefits us all.
