13.01.2022 When I go to a new property or agistment centre and I’m head down trimming a horse or walking back to my car, I often get approached to give my opinion or help ...with a horse. This was one of those instances. This horse had been shod for some time with heart bars on the advice of vet & farrier. However his owner had noticed his stance changing but was advised that he is fine. This before photo is not from the day I saw him as I had no plans to work on this horse when I was asked to have a look at him, so I didn’t take photos of his stance. *** I flipped the before photo received from his owner so they are both facing the same direction just for comparison purposes, this is why you see some black pigmentation on the hind in the after photo. At the time I saw him, I’d say his front limbs were actually worse than shown here. I did advise the owner to talk to the farrier again and reassess this package for the horse and as I was leaving I was asked to work on him. This was one of those times that we needed to get the shoes off the horse to relieve the pressure and discomfort, start rehabilitation of the hooves and constantly assess how he is going. If necessary, I will put poly composite shoes on him, but in the meantime he will have boots to use if required. The after photo was taken upon removal of shoes and trimming of the hooves. His stance immediately changed. There are still improvements that need to be made to the hpa and hooves, but he’s off to a good start. I received videos of him in the days after removal of his shoes, trotting and cantering around comfortably. We need to do better by horses. What has always been done, may not be in the best interests of the horse. Know better, do better. #drequine #equinepodiotherapist #equinepodiotherapy #barefoothorse #hoofrehab #hoofrehabilitation #hoofrehabspecialist #hooves #equinelimbs #hoovesandlimbs #hoofhealer #hoofspray #flybugsprayforhorses #equine #horses #horsebootfitter #horseboots #laminitis #equinelaminitis #glueu #hoofcast #glueonhorseshoes #eponashoes #equestrian #easyshoeperformance #seedytoe #rainscald #greasyheel #hoofabscess

07.01.2022 As part of Horse Muscle Care, there also is a formatted experience approach which should be considered! Muscle attention/Body work is something every horse who ...carries a rider should have done on seemingly regular bases, along with yourselves also! It teaches us where the horse is over using its self, under using its self, over compensating it’s self and so forth. It teaching us about the gear that we are using, be it an ill fitting saddle that may need a gullet change or restuffing of flock, or a restrictive rug, or hoof conditions which intern reflect in all areas of the horse’s body. Stiffness’s and soreness due to perhaps not quite the right training protocol at any given time and so forth, must also be considered, the list is endless. None the less it is about our learning and not just having the horse fixed for the next ride as I have personally attended to many a time before. We kind of need to get this right as responsible horse owners! There are no short cuts and if you find one, I can guarantee that it will not serve you well, nor the horse. Muscle Care or what ever other system you choose to use regarding relief of soreness and hopefully alignment, is about Care! Care to acknowledge that something may not be sitting right with your horse and for him to feel comfortable enough to serve his purpose with you amicabley! As I have said before, this always helps the relationship between horse and rider. I wish you and your horse well! See more

04.01.2022 Time to change by Meredith Ransley The danger from horse riding is compounded by the interaction of two species, human and horse, which may result in unpredi...ctable events. Dr Raymond A. Cripps, AIHW National Injury Surveillance Unit We need to be a Horseman not Human when it comes to interacting with horses. Shane Ransley, Founder of Quantum Savvy Horsemanship Do you, as a horse lover, personally know of someone who has been killed or seriously hurt by a horse? With the statistics alarmingly and unforgivably high, chances are that you do. Each year in Australia alone, 20 people on average are killed in horse related activities*. That is, riding or handling horses in some way. And while the stats are often hard to track down, they state that more than 3000 people each year in our country alone are seriously hurt by a horse*. Just this week a lady in South Australia fell off her horse and broke her neck, and another in Victoria came off her horse and fractured her skull. Plus there have been at least two deaths this summer already, and this is just incidents that I’ve heard of without even looking.
