24.01.2022 Happy Wear it Purple Day 2020! Today is about showing young LGBTIQA+ people that they have the right to be proud of who they are! Even though we must stay physically distant, we can still stay connected and support one another in fostering a supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environment for all. #WearItPurpleDay #WeAreTheChange

24.01.2022 Horsell is supporting Men's Health Week; 15-21 June 2020. All this emphasis on the health of boys and men - what's that about? They're alright, aren't they? In many cases, the answer is no.* A boy born in Australia has a life expectancy of 78.0 years while a baby girl born at the same time could expect to live to 82.3 years old. Men take their own lives at four times the rate of women (that's five men a day, on average). Accidents, cancer and heart disease all account for the... majority of male deaths.* Men's Health is not just a men's issue though and it involves others too - how can you help? - Be active in getting medical help if you don't feel well, have a problem that won't go away or notice unusual symptoms. - It's OK to seek help - don't try to do everything on your own or bury problems. Talk to your partner, friends and workmates. - Push hard to get the help you need to manage your life, work, family and financial needs. - Ladies, be proactive in helping your men and boys get the help they and you need. Use available hotlines, speak with professionals to get the best course of action and be persistent. - Don't leave it too late to seek help. Fear is not a killer. * Source - https://www.menshealthweek.org.au/

22.01.2022 Taking pride of place in our office is the newly hung portrait of Victoria Cross and Medal of Gallantry recipient Cameron Baird by artist George Petrou. Baird was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2013 and was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia, he became the 100th recipient of the highest award in the Australian honours system. Our Baird print was purchased at auction during the 2019 Melbourne Military Officers Ball with proceeds going to support The Youn...ger Heroes and the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum. In 2019 the Cameron Baird portrait was unveiled at Camp Baird, Australias main operating base in the Middle East. The Australian Government: Department of Defence article on the Cameron Baird portrait can be found below. https://lnkd.in/gWXWKbY Also purchased at the Melbourne Military Ball auction, the second artwork depicts the Australians on their way to take up a front line position in the Ypres Sector during the First World War, 1914-1918. #defenceforces #cameronbaird #victoriacross #georgepetrou #WW1 #southbank #melbourne

19.01.2022 Today is the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, a time for all of us to reflect and celebrate our nations proud Indigenous history and culture! The theme for NRW 2020 is In This Together. As Australians these words are very familiar to us and unite us in our journey towards reconciliation. #NRW2020 #InThisTogether2020 #diversitymatters

19.01.2022 An exciting day at Horsell with confirmation that our contribution to Carbon Neutral will plant 380 trees and shrubs on behalf of our staff and the Horsell family. These trees will be planted in the @Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor located in Western Australias northern agricultural region approximately 400 km north of Perth. The Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor is found within the globally recognised Southwest Australia Hotspot. Conservation International, a world author...ity on biodiversity conservation, identified Southwest Australia as one of only 35 globally significant Hotspots. These trees bring many valuable benefits to the environment including: - sequester carbon, - help reduce soil salinity, - help combat wind and water erosion, - enhance biodiversity, and - restore habitat for native animals. Planting trees also provides local employment, supports local business, and may contribute to increased rainfall. Our executive staff believe that climate change is real and that we can all make small differences and together these differences will be substantial. #horsell #makecomplexsimple #biodiversity #nature #conservation #climatechange #treeplanting #savetheplanet

18.01.2022 Since 1 July 2019, Horsell has provided Publication Management services to the Australian Army specifically in the provision of Editing and Desktop Publishing support to Land Doctrine (Army Knowledge Centre). Our current contract is set to finish up on 30 June 2020 as Department of Defence takes a different approach to the development of doctrine in the future, one which we hope to remain a part of. In the year to date, our team of specialists have provided more than 16000 ta...sk hours and met or exceeded all performance measures. We are extremely proud of our team and their achievements but wish to acknowledge that many of them have worked in support of Army doctrine for much longer than Horsell. Of the six members still supporting this contract, they have a combined 53.5 years of service to our nation as external service providers embedded into Defence - three of them having more than 10 years service and five of them having more than seven years of service! As this contract winds up we look forward to their next engagement as Publication Management specialists. Please join us in celebrating their service! #horsell #makecomplexsimple #australianarmy #defence #doctrine #publications #AKC #australianowned

04.01.2022 On Friday 22 May, Horsell is taking part in Stay In Bed Day to support Australians living with mitochondrial disease (mito). Were challenging ourselves to stay in bed ALL DAY it wont be easy (gulp). Why are we doing this? Because for too many people living with this disease, finding the energy to get out of bed is a daily struggle.... Mito robs the bodys cells of energy, causing multiple organ dysfunction or failure. It affects one child born in Australia each week. Thats 50 Aussie kids every year. And right now, mito patients are among the most vulnerable during the COVID-19 crisis as their ability to fight infection is extremely limited. So were asking for your support Please in Stay In Bed Day and support the Mito Foundation in providing vital support services and fund research to help people living with mito. https://lnkd.in/gfAPHyb #stayinbedday #jointhemitomovement #mito #mitofoundation

02.01.2022 Men’s health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 6 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. Unchecked, prostate cancer rates will double over the next 15 years. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men aged 15-39 years of age. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 75% of all suicides. Movember is uniquely placed to address this crisis on a global scale. They fund groun...dbreaking projects all over the world, engaging men where they are to understand what works best and accelerate change. Help us this Movember and donate or follow our progress and cheer us on!
