25.01.2022 A big THANK YOU to Shire of Capel and Capel Community Bank Branch - Bendigo for choosing us as second best dressed stall at the Christmas Fair. It is heart warming to have so many people visit us at the stall to thank us for our work within this amazing community. Merry Christmas to all.

24.01.2022 HORSEPOWER BUSSELTON-CAPEL Property wanted to Lease WE'RE STILL LOOKING... ‘HorsePower is all about transforming the lives of people with diversabilities ONE HOOF BEAT AT A TIME, We are looking for a new home. Can you help us find somewhere to lease between Capel and Busselton? We need grazing land enough for up to 10 horses with water, good fencing, space for an arena and carparking. We have 3 transportable buildings, ramps and a composting toilet which would need to come with us. Power would be great but is not essential. We take responsibility for our horses, which would be checked daily by our wonderful volunteers We are committed to providing our valued clients, amazing horses and treasured volunteers with the best experience possible.

24.01.2022 Last month a number of our participants competed in our first HorsePower Virtual Games. This event was organised in Lieu of our Community TAB State Games which... were unfortunately postponed for 2020 due toCOVID-19. Below are a few highlights from the various Wild West themed events that happened across the state. Our thanks to all the participants and centres who joined in this years event with some outstanding props and costumes. The team at Community TAB have their work cut out for them deciding on the best dressed for this years event. Results are expected in the coming days so remember to check back here to see these and other events. 24.01.2022 Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance!!! There are always jobs to be undertaken to maintain our paddocks for our mob. One such job came up just before Easter to knock back the encroachment of an invasive week expanding its footprint in our Iluka block!... Thanks go to Carol, the two Kevins and Beverley who came armed with spray units and chemicals. We hope to see lots of dead weeds in a couple of weeks. Kevin will be keeping an eye out for any weeds that were missed and do a follow up spray.

20.01.2022 Float Action When we purchased our ‘new’ float there were a number of alterations we wanted to make before she went to work transporting our mob. We were thrilled when Mike and Lisa agreed to undertake the work in time for the commencement of Term 2. We send our big thanks to Mike for his excellent work the alterations will make the job of transportation very easy especially the new springs for the ramp we will be able to lift it with a finger!... 18.01.2022 Hay for Our Horses 2020/21 HorsePower Busselton/Capel were lucky enough to, once again, have hay donated for our horses. Murray from Roelands has kindly allowed us to take 200 square bales and several hay rolls to feed our wonderful animals.... Murray had been kind enough to donate hay to us last season. This season the hay had been bundled into packs of 21 bales and was stacked in his shed, making the job a whole lot easier than originally thought. He was available with his fork lift to help the loading of the hay. This made the job quick and most efficient. On 15th December we assembled a group of willing volunteers with cars / utes and trailers and between us we managed to collect all the hay in one day; Carol with her ute and Bev with her large trailer doing a second run to complete the task. The weather was very warm but not too hot for the work at hand. All the hay has been distributed to the properties where the horses live in Capel. We would like to extend a huge thanks to all the volunteers who helped on the day (and those who offered their help that ultimately not required). You all made the organising of this hay run so very easy.

18.01.2022 Lions Busselton Sponsorship Last year HorsePower Busselton-Capel made a presentation to the Lions Club of Busselton. We gave an update on our progress over the last five years and requested sponsorship so we may help some of our participants partially cover the costs of their sessions to ensure their ongoing participation in our programs. We were very excited to learn that the Lions membership decided to award us $1000 towards sponsorship! At our March committee meeting we c...hose two worthy recipients. Jaime has been in our program for over three years and we love her tenacity and commitment to building her relationship with Blue and developing her horsemanship skills along the way. Danielle is very new and her enthusiasm and sheer joy in working with Navigator has led to great progress in such a short time. Our participants were thrilled when we informed them of the sponsorship!! We all thank Busselton Lions for their generous sponsorship. See more

Currently we are using one of our members floats and we really need to give it back! All donations over $2.00 are 100% tax deductible when you do your tax return. While our other programs have been underway for a number of weeks WWH has been held up because of the COVID social distancing rules. With much consultation with our head office we have managed to satisfy the important health requirements and are off and running. ... Our small specialised team has been working for some time now with two much loved participants who use wheelchairs. If you are a horse rider just imagine not having strength in your legs to grip your steed or being able to stand up to put a halter on? Claire and Jaime show their courage and their determination at every session we love cheering them on!!

06.01.2022 Newcomers to Walking with Horses Program Welcome Ruby and Navigator to our Walking with Horses Program being delivered in Wonnerup. Our two recently approved sessional horses are already great mates loving to cruise through the forest together and now working with some very enthusiastic participants. For our WWH program we focus on the temperament and ground skills of our horses our horses need to be thinkers and be willing to connect with our participants. On her first day on the job Ruby kindly delivered our morning tea tied around her neck and didn’t break our mugs! We are all looking forward to some great fun with these two they will grow in their confidence as they give their gifts to our participants.
