25.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY - VX SEDAN - BLO402 A car synonymous with HPF through the early 2000s was Gary Pope's Tiger Mica VX Commodore BLO402. The car went through a number of engine combinations, coming to HPF with a naturally aspirated 427 and auto trans it evolved into a big Procharger setup with a custom air to air intercooler and converted to a manual transmission. ... It finally ended up with a purpose built 402 fed by a massive Turbonetics single turbo through a custom-built dry ice intercooler setup making over 1500hp at the wheels. 20.01.2022 I've often said, that as car enthusiasts, we could find worse things to spend our money on, but there is no doubting that modifying cars is a drug and that drug is very much addictive! This FG XR6T is owned by a long time HPF customer who bought the car as a run around and thought he'd tune it up for a laugh... Well as usual the bug bit and some months and a series of vists to HPF later, the car is now fitted with a full exhaust, Process West Race air box, battery relocation..., Stage-1 intercooler and a set of 1000cc injectors. Our customer is not one to ignore regular maintenance, a noisy turbocharger became the 'excuse' for the next round of upgrades but the brief from the customer was that he did not want it lazy to come on to boost. This is a challenge in its self so we made the call to Procharge Turbochargers and one of their Stage-1 PROGTX58/62 turbos was selected. The result are in and the customer reports its now 'an Animal' and that traction is an issue in 3rd gear! What we found both on the road and on the dyno is that the boost response is so close to the standard FG XR6T GT3576R its not funny, so... That is mission accomplished.

20.01.2022 How do you make your dyno tuner happy? We typically do not 'sell' anything to our customers, our philosophy has always been to give our customers the options on what they can do to their vehicle and advise which HPF package or product may suit the customers individual needs. That philosophy has always been well accepted by our customers and it's easy on us too as it's a pressure-free conversation. A product we have always recommended to our customers has been an upgraded inte...rcooler. In some applications, the gains on the dyno seem very hard to warrant the cost but the resulting consistency in engine power once on the road soon makes it more than worthwhile! In other cars the addition of an aftermarket intercooler makes a massive difference and in an already modified car like this FG XR6 Turbo Falcon it can be the intercooler that makes all the difference. In this instance we installed a Process West Stage-2 intercooler kit and race air box and picked up 50kw at the wheels! For the most part, the dyno tuner is a simple device. He or she is a bit Stig like, they don't understand the why's or how's and nor do they care. All they know is, sit in car.. connect electrical device to vehicle.. adjust.. check.. adjust.. check.. etc, and if something gets in the way of adjust - check, they'll loudly complain and blame the sales guy... 'this thing needs an intercooler, get me one" So get the most from your turbocharged vehicle, whether it be Petrol or Diesel and in the process you can make a petrol head computer nerd happy!

19.01.2022 PACKAGE OF THE WEEK - COLORADO STAGE 2 NOW AVAILABLE WITH HP/F ASSURANCE DRIVELINE WARRANTY** The Colorado 2.8L Stage 2 upgrade starts with our trained technician fitting a new TorqMax Turbocharger and a 4 bar map sensor to the engine as one of the limiting factors when upgrading the 2.8L engine is the size of the standard turbocharger which dictates the peak power and torque the engine is capable of.... The TorqMax turbocharger has addressed this by upgrading the compressor inducer wheel with a 15% larger wheel machined from a solid billet. The new wheel features extended tip technology and a 13% smaller hub diameter which makes the blade surface larger giving the blades even more area to draw air in. We also upgrade the turbo's thrust bearing to improve it's durability. The virus is still around so as a group, we are doing everything we can to do our part to ensure our workplace and personnel are geared to minimize transmission wherever possible. 13.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY - MONARO - HPF. Back in 2005 one of our shop cars was the iconic V2 CV8 Monaro in Devil Yellow with Back leather interior which we setup specifically to go drag racing and crack into the 9s. Sporting an in house built twin turbo setup, a built 5.7L LS1 backed by a Turbo 400 (as the car was originally manual) we managed to push well into the 9s, eventually running a best of 9.6.... 09.01.2022 Horsepower Factory - Covid-19 Stage 4 policy 11/08/2020 Due to the Victorian Government’s Stage-4 COVID Restrictions and recently released policy clarification from industry bodies, Horsepower Factory has made the decision to close the workshop doors as of 5pm on the 11th of August until 8 am on the 16th of September 2020 or until advised otherwise by the Victorian Government. ... HPF has not made this decision lightly, but ultimately we are entirely confident that we have taken the correct choice of action to do our part in assisting Victoria in containing and minimizing further contraction of the COVID19 Virus. All customers with existing bookings (numbering over 90 people!) have been contacted and we will work closely with these customers to tentatively rebook them as they appeared in our schedule. New jobs will be taken on, on a case by case basis, upon our return. HPF, DTA and Walkinshaw Performance sales staff will still be contactable as email, Facebook and phone messages will still be monitored, albeit remotely. Replies maybe delayed. HPF & DTA website sales for Process West, TorqMax, Voodoo Ride and Harrop will remain open however some delays may be encountered due to local or regional restrictions. The Diesel Tune Australia file service will still be offered to our National DTA dealer network however for those DTA Dealers, please allow for extra time as our staff will be working from home and may not be able to offer the same level of reply that you have come to expect. 04.01.2022 THROW BACK THURSDAY - BA XR8 UTE - HPFXR8 A HPF shop car that saw many different duties over the years was our beloved BA XR8 Ute that went through a number of combinations and ended up with a built 5.4LT sporting a Yella Terra Whipple supercharger.
