18.01.2022 Jaime came to HorsePower not expecting to achieve very much. When we told her one day she would be riding independently she scoffed at our audacity. How cou...ld she possibly have what it takes to direct 600kgs of living breathing thinking horse. We patiently waited for the day when we could say ‘we told you so!’ Jaime and Blue started on the ground, where all human/equine partnerships should begin. Jaime found that she could back Blue up, ask him to turn in a given direction, walk around her in circles and then willingly come back to her and drop his head in her lap. Having such a big animal stand over you takes bravery and trust from both of the partners. Blue needed to learn that Jaime was his leader and he could come to her for comfort Jaime needed to learn her new partner was intelligent, sensitive and most of all generous. So you will be pleased to know we have got to say ‘we told you so’. Jaime and Blue have developed their partnership to where they are moving out together as a ridden pair in the arena. It is like a dance Jaime watching for a flick of the ear, a change of energy Blue feeling for a turn of the head, a change of energy. This is what HorsePower is all about, this is what drives us. The inaugural Hobby Horse Rainbow Championsh...ip Series presented by HorsePower Australia and Community TAB is a great way for horse lovers of all ages and abilities to enjoy the pleasure and freedom of imagination and the experience of working with horses to overcome obstacles and challenges whilst having some amazing adventures along the way. The Rainbow Championship Series has something for everyone with events being held online during April and May in support of HorsePower Australia. Like any good equestrian event the first stage is selecting your horse and getting them ready for competition. The Man from Snowy River Bush Festival 2020 is seeking volunteers of all ag...es and community groups to join us in the Upper Murray this April. Many of our locals are busy with the recovery effort so we are specifically seeking folks from outside the region to join us in the High Country and help support the community by joining our festival crew. Whether you’re an individual or part of a group or a club, if you can lend a hand at this year’s festival, come to gather to the fray and be a part of the strong-knit group that will allow this year’s celebration to happen. All are welcome.
