25.01.2022 Willow found a white, 'black faced' monster in the paddock today. She decided that it was up to her to rid the monster from the paddock as none of the other horses had seen it or were simply not brave enough.

25.01.2022 Even Rainbow the lorikeet loves hanging out at HIM with all our wonderful animals.

We ask our clients to do the same when arriving at HIM. Hand sanitisers are available. Please review the information below and if you answer yes to any of these questions do not attend HIM. 23.01.2022 Hello all, We hope everyone is staying safe and looking out for one another. Despite HIM being unable to keep its doors open to the community, it is still a little patch of heaven. All our delightful animals are still being cared for with the utmost love by our highly valued and appreciated volunteers while following very strict protocols to ensure everyones safety. HIM has been through some challenging times in the past and you all have supported us in every way possible, ...ensuring the future of HIM and enabling it to continue to be a place of refuge and joy for many in the community. Despite the circumstances of this challenge being out of our hands we fully intend to do everything in our power to be there on the other side of this difficult times to continue to be a place our community can be proud to be a part of. HIM has put a smile on a countless number of clients faces, cheered them up, built up their confidence, made them feel safe, valued and empowered them to be their best they can be. So in the meantime we will be sharing pictures of all the happy times shared at Him. Stay positive and remember to smile at a passing person is an act of kindness.

16.01.2022 Hi all friends & families at HIM We are sending this note out to all of our Agistees, Leasees, Sponsors, Young people & their families. At HIM we take seriously the possible return of Covid -19 restrictions. In order for us to comply & keep all our visitors & volunteers safe we will be increasing our stance on social distancing, hand washing as well as sanitising our equipment & communal surfaces. Your help is required by adhering to the guidelines in place while at the pad...dock & making sure you do not come to the paddock if you or any of your close contacts are sick or displaying even mild symptoms. To keep our animals safe & well cared for. We will have to ask people not to enter the property if they have any symptoms. Thank you Cherrie

11.01.2022 At HIM we are constantly monitoring the latest guidance from the World Health Organisation and the Queensland Government. HIM take the health and safety of our clients and staff very seriously. Currently HIM is open and running as normal. .... Horse riding is an excellent activity in these uncertain times, with enjoying the fresh air and natural ability to social distance. . Thank you for your understanding. 1 Do you have cold or flu like symptoms? 2Have you been or do you have any reason to suspect youve been exposed to someone with or suspected to have Covid-19? 3Have you returned from any overseas location within the past 14 days? 4 Have you been asked to self isolate due to having contact with someone with suspected or diagnosed Covid-19? When at HIM you need to keep 1.5m away from any persons. Think about yourself being in a bubble of 4m around you. Limit the contact you have with others. Do not share items such as food. We are introducing new measures to protect our staff, volunteers and clients that will enable us to continue to provide a safe as environment as possible during this time. We are encouraging regular and term riders to bring their own helmets. HIM helmets will be sprayed with disinfectant after each rider and left to dry before next use. When you enter the property please ensure you have cleaned your hands prior to arrival. Before you tack up your horse / ride. We ask that you clean your hands again. We would appreciate it if people could carry their own hand sanitiser to limit HIM own supply. Once you have ridden before you untack please clean your hands again. HIM will be using disinfectant to spray clean reins, lead ropes, halters, saddles. We have reduced the numbers of items in the tack area to limit extra contact. Only saddles we use often are available. Each saddle has a designated saddle pad please do not mix them up and ask if you get stuck. All unnecessary tack is being removed from the normal tack shed. Each regular horse has a basket with their name on. Please use only the items in this basket and use the disinfectant spray when finished riding to spray your basket. If you need help our HIM staff and volunteers will assist.

10.01.2022 Hi Everyone. It has been a very long time between posts. Horses in Mind has been through the wringer and we are not yet out the other side but we are still here. I would like to thank all of the people who are waiting for us to be back to normal however that is going to take some time yet. ... Unfortunately due to an extremely difficult time from the end of 2019 of droughts, dust storms, floods, infections with the horses (respiratory, rain scald, & conjunctivitis) over the weeks leading up to Covid we had to put off all of our staff and are now operating on a volunteer basis only. Covid 19 came along & forced HIM to completely restructure our operation for now & in the near future. Our first priority was & still is looking after all of our animals with the best care possible. After that was to look at activities that would enable us to receive enough income to keep us afloat, (we are & have always been fully self-supporting). During Covid 19 with the restrictions on numbers of people being able to be at the paddock at any one time we had to choose our action plan carefully. This plan was to part-lease out our riding horses to competent, independent riders, have some one of our families sponsor our ponies & non-riding horses & to continue with our HAL (Horse Assisted Learning) & our HHC ( Horse Handling Clinics) to make ends meet. We have had lots of individuals & families come on board wanting to help. Whether it was with leasing, sponsoring, volunteering or one of our other activities. HIM has a real community feel about it and everyone is supporting, learning & benefiting at the same time. If you or your family would like to become involved in one of the activities or options available please contact me on 0413314428 or email me on [email protected]

03.01.2022 Hi All. Horses in Mind has had to cease all lessons & activities due to Covid -19. We have had to totally restructure everything so that the animals are still getting the best of care. We have sent some of our Horses & Calves to friends at Blackbutt. They are now roaming around an amazing 140 acre grass filled paddock with a wonderful family looking after them. The Mini Bull, Ebony the mini cow & the 3 goats will join them on the weekend. Most of the chickens have gone to ...temporary homes. We still have some ducks, pigs, riding horses & ponies to take care of. At this time during Covid-19 we have a very limited offer to our families. We are now leasing some of our riding horses. This means 3x2hr sessions to intermediate to advanced riders with one of our horses or ponies ($110). The other option is to sponsor ($50) for 2 x 2hr session with a horse/pony for families who might like the experience of working on the ground feeding, grooming, bonding & walking a horse or pony. If you are interested please contact Cherrie. 0413314428.

01.01.2022 UPDATE - COVID-19 At Horses in Mind we hold your safety in the highest regard. In light of the recent constantly evolving developments with COVID-19, both domestically and internationally, the Horses in Mind team has decided to be #partofthesolution in #flatteningthecurve. We acknowledge that this is a stressful and uncertain time for all of you. The board has been meeting regularly to assess the impact of Covid-19 and the advice from the Government.... It is important that we act in a socially responsible manner and do everything we can to avoid further risk of infection, especially those in our Horses in Mind community who are vulnerable to illness. We have made the decision to cease all activities at Horses in Mind immediately. This means all of our lessons, clinics, therapy sessions, pony rides and pony camps etc will be cancelled indefinitely. Our last day of activities will be today, Thursday 26 March 2020. As of Friday, 27 March 2020 we will no longer run activities at Horses in Mind and will not do so until we are able to reassess the situation and the Government has confirmed the Covid-19 health crisis is resolved. There are activities currently scheduled for Friday and next week. Unfortunately, those activities will no longer go ahead. We will be releasing more communications over the coming weeks setting out important decisions we have made about the operations of Horses in Mind going forward. Please read this information carefully and make sure that you ask questions if you do not understand. We appreciate this is a difficult time for many of you. Please look out for yourselves and each other in these difficult times. You have become such a caring and supportive community at Horses in Mind and we hope that you continue to reach out to each other. We are all in this together. We would also like to remind everyone that this is not a time for panic, but rather an opportunity to slow down, breathe, and find time for the little things that make us happy. Rest assured we look forward to welcoming you all back to our community in the future. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] Yours faithfully Horses in Mind 26 March 2020
