08.01.2022 8 April Newsletter Dear Rowing Community, Welcome to the first of our weekly RA Newsletters. I hope this newsletter finds you and your families all well and safe at home.... This is an unprecedented time in the history of our sport and country, with the COVID-19 pandemic impacting every aspect of our lives, on and off the water. As we face these confronting new realities, we are working with our Member Associations, Sport Australia, Australian Institute of Sport, the Australian Olympic Committee and Paralympics Australia to ensure our rowing community is supported during these challenging times. We are in this together. We will be stronger than before. I am in regular contact with the Member Association CEOs, as well as the RA Board and Council, and we are all committed and united in ensuring that the sport we love remains strong across every level of the sport school, club, masters and elite indoor and on-water. Most importantly we must all be ready to play our role when the time comes, as it will, to re-activate every element of our great sport: from aspiring Olympians/Paralympians to Schools to Masters to Clubs to Recreational, volunteers and officials, from the Cities to the Regions and everywhere in between. In regards to event updates, both nationally and internationally we will provide you with information as soon as it becomes available. The safety and well-being of our community remains paramount in our decision making when it comes to domestic events. This week saw us launch our #IndoorInterstate Regatta and it has been wonderfully received by you all. We’re delighted to see so many of the community clocking metres for their respective State or Territory and we’ve also had some entries from the Northern Territory! These weekly newsletters will be designed to provide you with resources, and engaging content, as we look to stay active and healthy all the while following Government restrictions around physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. This new look newsletter will also feature regular training advice that is scalable from School to Masters level, tips on health and wellbeing from our world-class High Performance staff as well as some fun facts and interviews with our elite athletes as they adjust to training indoors for the coming months. It is important for all us to stay safe family, friends, club mates, crew mates and the rowing community. Stay home and save lives. Kind regards, Ian Robson CEO, Rowing Australia
