24.01.2022 OUR INFLUENZA VACCINES ARE IN. The period of peak influenza circulation is typically June to September for most parts of Australia. While protection is generally expected to last for the whole season, optimal protection against influenza occurs within the first 3 to 4 months following vaccination. Therefore the best time to get the vaccine is the end of May. Free seasonal influenza vaccine is funded for the following groups at higher risk of complications from influenza for t...he 2018 season: 1. all children aged 6 months to less than 5 years of age (more information is available on the dedicated webpage) 2. all individuals aged 5 years and over with medical risk conditions, namely: *cardiac disease, including cyanotic congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure *chronic respiratory conditions, including suppurative lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and severe asthma *other chronic illnesses requiring regular medical follow up or hospitalisation in the previous year, including diabetes mellitus, chronic metabolic diseases, chronic renal failure, and haemoglobinopathies *chronic neurological conditions that impact on respiratory function, including multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and seizure disorders *impaired immunity, including HIV, malignancy and chronic steroid use 3. children aged 6 months to 10 years on long term aspirin therapy. 4. all people aged 65 years and over (vaccine that is specifically designed to produce a higher immune response is available for this group) 5. all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 15 years and over 6. pregnant women (influenza vaccine can be given at any stage of pregnancy) All other individuals are able to get a script from the GP and bring the vaccine in to be given by the nurse. further information @ http://www.health.nsw.gov.au//seasonal_flu_vaccination.aspx

12.01.2022 Request to all clients of Horsley community Doctors Dear clients these are some very extraordinary times in the history of humanity and hence we are all taking some very significant measures to protect all our community members. 1. We will be doing telephone calls to all our clients from Monday 30.3.2020 onwards. This is to prevent any spread of COVID-19 to the clients and health care workers. Unfortunately, we don't have any personal protection equipment ( PPE ) which is sup...posed to provide maximum protection. This is the guidance from the department of health. 2. The only exception will be childhood immunizations and influenza vaccination ( which are supposed to arrive sometime after Easter ) which are compulsory. With kids vaccination, we request only one parent to accompany the child. No extra person or kids are allowed. 3. Even for acute illness, we urge and request all clients to book an urgent phone appointment ( not a clinic encounter ) and we will triage the calls accordingly. If required we will do a face to face consult in an emergency. 4. We can still order blood tests, arrange X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT scans and referral letter to a specialist via emails and faxes. We can also issue medical certificates via email to you. 5. Please be assured we will be helping all our clients and community members in the safest and best possible manner. The most important underlying principle is to avoid any human contact as much as possible. 6. We also request you to keep a safe distance of 1.5 metres with anyone else at all times. Hence keeping the reception room with no more than 3-4 clients is ideal. We have kept some chairs outside in the garden. Thanks for your understanding The team at Horsley community doctors

11.01.2022 UPDATE FOR OUR PATIENTS: PLEASE NOTE: The Doctors will still be seeing all our regular patients for routine appointments, scripts, injuries, Worker's Compensation etc. We understand that everyone is concerned about going out and being exposed to viruses so we have put some procedures in place to keep you all safe:... - ANY patient with ANY cold or flu symptoms are to remain at home and contact the Practice - we will then arrange for a Doctor to call you to discuss the symptoms. This will prevent the spread of infection, but will also protect the unwell patient who will be more at risk due to already being unwell. - Seating has been spaced out to adhere to the Social Distancing guidelines. We also have some chairs on the grassed area out the back of the Practice or you may remain in your car while you wait for your appointment. - The surfaces in the waiting room are wiped over regularly and every effort is being taken to keep everything sanitised and safe for our patient's well-being Please continue to make appointments with us and come and see the Doctor as you need to. We are considered an essential service (as well as pharmacies) so we will remain open and will continue to keep our premises as low risk as we can. Thank you for your understanding.

08.01.2022 Dear Clients of Horsley Community Doctors, We hope you are all doing well in these particularly challenging times. As many of you are aware, over the past few weeks there has been an increase in local transmissions of COVID-19. Given the current context of local transmission, NSW Health has advised local health districts to escalate to a moderate risk level. This requires all health workers to wear a surgical mask if they are within 1.5m of patients. Patients are also requir...ed to wear a mask, where possible. This advice comes into effect from today, Friday 24 July 2020. We are currently doing telephone consults during this time and only face-to-face consults when it is appropriate/ required. If you are attending the surgery we ask that you please wear a mask and when possible and wait outside until screening has been completed by the receptionist. We ask if you are attending the surgery at any time to please supply your own mask as there is a limited supply. Screening can be completed by phoning the practice prior to entering. We much appreciate your understanding during this time and hope you are all well. Many thanks, Horsley Community Doctors See more

01.01.2022 Dear Clients of Horsley community doctors, We hope you have all enjoyed the relaxing queens long holiday weekend. We are following the recommendations from department of health and all social distancing measures + hand hygiene measures continue to operate. We have now received the flu vaccines ( from medicare as well as private ) for all age groups : 6 months - 5 yrs, 5- 65 yrs and 65 yrs plus. There is much more important need for flu vaccine this year compared to any previ...ous years because of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. The main reason for flu vaccine is that we know the outcome of any patient is worse if they have both COVID 19 and flu. We would request all clients to consider having flu vaccine at the practice appointments. The flu vaccine is free ( medicare subsidised ) to all kids below the age of 5 yrs and seniors above the age of 65 yrs.It is also free to any of the clients between 5-65 yrs if they have any long standing conditions like asthma, diabetes, COPD, heart problems , kidney issues etc. Plz contact the practice for details. kindest regards Dr Gupta

01.01.2022 Attention Patients; As per NSW HEALTH; Due to high demand and unprecedented uptake of influenza vaccine changes have been made as to which vaccine to give to different age groups. As a result of this; we currently have no stock of vaccines available for 18-64 year old’s with at risk medical factors. You can still buy the private vaccine for $15 here, however to free vaccine is not available as yet (it has been ordered). Thank you, Nurse.
