23.01.2022 During the hot months of summer this Buxus hedge was left unwatered and sadly didn’t survive. We were asked to replace the hedge to match with the other balconies within the complex. So tips; We used Buxus microphylla japonica We removed the dead hedge... Digging a trench for the new hedge makes life easier Spacing of approx 20cm will give a good thick hedge We added some wetting crystals to assist with water retention We applied a slow release 6 month fertiliser Ensure a good mulch and water in well. 19.01.2022 BEAUTIFUL BIDENS are a group of hardy plants in the daisy family (of course if you know my daughter) that can bring bright warm colours into your garden. The Biden below is known as Campfire and is just one example. Its flowers emerge deep orange red and mature to bicolour yellow and orange. ‘Campfire’ is a vigorous plant, growing to around 20 to 30 cm tall and is heat and drought tolerant. Cooler climates will also help in promoting the deep burnt orange appearance of the f...lowers. In warm areas like Sydney Biden’s can flower from winter through into spring and summer and in cool zones bidens look their best during the warmer months. Bidens ‘Campfire’ loves full sun in a garden bed and looks fantastic when planted along the edge of a retaining wall. ‘Campfire’ also looks fantastic when grown in a pot and especially shines when planted with other strong contrasting colours. When planting Bidens ‘Campfire’ into pots or hanging baskets, start with a good quality potting mix like Yates Premium Potting Mix and feed each week with Thrive Roses & Flowers Liquid Plant Food. It’s boosted with extra potassium, which is the main nutrient that encourages flowering. Lightly trim your Biden’s regularly. This will promote a tidier look and new flushes of flowers. See more
13.01.2022 Perfect time to topdress your lawn heading in for Summer and Christmas. Top dressing helps thicken your lawn up and if you use soil with added fertilizer then the grass will green up as well!! This is a lawn we did today. I’ll post another pic in 3-4 weeks and you will see the difference!!
07.01.2022 ITS BINDII GROWING SEASON!!!!! Bindii weeds are small and ferny looking. They are currently small and difficult to spot, but they are growing by the day, taking advantage of the slower growing lawn over Winter and are getting ready to put prickles in your feet over Summer!!! Very soon the Bindi will be flowering. After the flowers they set their seed. The seed heads are the prickles! Once the prickles form, its to late and you’ll have another season of unhappy kids, pets and ...thongs. So, now is the time to control bindii before they develop prickles. A quick and easy way to control Bindii over large areas of lawns is with hose-on spray applicators. If you have a couch or kikuyu lawn, apply Yates Weed’n’Feed or Bindii Killer. If you have a buffalo lawn, it’s important to choose weed killers that are safe for buffalo. Yates Buffalo PRO Weed’n’Feed has been specially designed for buffalo lawns. Alternatively give us a call and we can help eradicate the Bindii before the prickles have you hopping mad!!!!
