16.01.2022 Hospice is slowly moving out of hibernation! Michelle and I have taken leave, worked from home, changed to a few hours daily, BUT, now we are back in the office. Our Volunteers have started back visiting clients (TODAY) who feel comfortable to have visitors back! Speaking to our clients last week, most were very excited thinking about the return of their Hospice Volunteer! One client had purchased a new dictionary to help with her Tuesday scrabble games!!!

12.01.2022 A road trip yesterday to visit new clients in Sheffield and Spreyton. People are so pleased to see us, or it could just be pleased to see another human being!!! Lovely day for travelling the North West Coast of Tasmania, the skies were clear enough to see Mount Roland and the sun made Bass Strait sparkle! How lucky are we?

10.01.2022 Today celebrates the start of this worldwide campaign of #hellomynameis This campaign was started in the UK by Dr Kate Granger and her husband Chris when she became a terminal cancer patient and found very few medical people introduced themselves by name, role and what they were there to do! ... Such a basic compassionate start to any interaction, yet it wasn't evident. The hashtag has made 2 billion impressions since its inception and is now being taken up by medical facilities and hospitals all around the world. Tasmanian Health Service has proudly taken up this important message and you will see people now with name tags! Knowing a person's name is SO important!!

10.01.2022 It was announced yesterday that Tasmanian Senator Richard Colbeck has been given the role of Minister for Aged Care and Senior Australians. Obviously, not all of our clients are aged, but a majority of them are. "Senator Colbeck says, It is an important time in aged care, particularly with the Aged Care Royal Commission underway and the need to support senior Australians in their later life. Aged care involves the lives of so many Australians directly and indirectly, and v...irtually all families will have an experience with aged care in their lifetime. As the new Minister I am focused on ensuring that our record funding enables senior Australians to age with dignity and receive the care that they deserve."
