25.01.2022 With a sighting in April, it seems weve got an early start to the whale watching season in SA. Woohoo!

25.01.2022 We would like to wish all our guests, past present and future, their family and friends and our family and friends a safe and happy Christmas and New Year. We look forward to hosting you and helping you have amazing #backpackerfun in #backpacksa with #backpackermates.

24.01.2022 Guitars in Bars is off. Check out the gigs and enjoy. https://www.guitarsinbars.com.au

24.01.2022 Cant fault any of these camping spots. Enjoy the freedom that is South Australia. Do more.

23.01.2022 Time for a good Aussie sing along.

21.01.2022 Is there anything more magical than autumn in the Adelaide Hills? Tour Mount Lofty Botanic Garden in autumn with SATV: https://bit.ly/_AdelaideHillsAutumn Photo: @antstagram_sa (via IG) in Visit Adelaide Hills.

20.01.2022 Autumn has painted the town red and boy is Hahndorf looking pretty! http://bit.ly/AutumnEscapeToHahndorf Photo: @simongomesphotography (via IG).

20.01.2022 Just 22 tastes of beautiful Adelaide!

19.01.2022 And for something completely different check out the Tina Turner Story by Cleopatra Higgins and her band. A pint sized bundle of incredible talent and energy, she does wonderful justice to the songs of a legend. I closed my eyes at one point and was transported right on back to Rio in 1988. For anyone in an older age bracket, be aware its byo defibrillator! Youll need it!

18.01.2022 Super happy to have achieved a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor for 2019. We really appreciate the support of all of our guests and very much look forward to hosting you, your friends or those we havent yet met.

18.01.2022 Tonight we're reflecting on this pink paradise https://bit.ly/RelaxByTheRiver Photo: @susiereynolds66 in Riverland, South Australia.

18.01.2022 Nearly time to go travelling. Woohoo!

18.01.2022 This is a GREAT ocean road! http://bit.ly/StayByTheSeaside Photo: @row_an_james in Visit Fleurieu Peninsula.

15.01.2022 We'd like to let you know that we've stayed open, covid-safe and welcoming travellers throughout the whole time and we've been able to provide a safe, friendly haven for a few travellers trapped away from home. With regional travel opening up in South Australia, we're keen to welcome you as well. The wonders of Adelaide are still here, there are restaurants and cafes open to support you and plenty of things to do. Please phone us to enquire.

15.01.2022 12/12/12 To 12/12/18 Six years, 50,000 receipts, 29,300 guests, many repeat guests - our ultimate compliment. Some changes, mostly improvements. We now offer hotel standard rooms as well as hostel beds, we generate more electricity than we use, we've met the very occasional person we don't want to meet again, we've had guests whose siblings or even parents have stayed with us earlier, we've made friends and hopefully helped many people have a great holiday or travelling exper...ience. We try to introduce our guests to the wonders on Adelaide, one of the undersold, undermarketed jewels of Australia. Sometimes we go too far and the eyes glaze over! But we trust some of it has rubbed off. We seek to live our hashtags, #backpackerfun with #backpackermates in #backpacksa, although we have been known to and enjoy #travelling elsewhere, every place has its story. Thank you to the 29,300 people who've stayed with us, we look forward to meeting your family and friends, and have some newbies join our family. We've put just a few photos here of where we go in Adelaide. We'd love to share with you. See more

15.01.2022 In our spirit of having a good time and being able to recommend with local knowledge, we had a go at the Tree Climb in the Adelaide Parklands this morning. What a great group activity it is. A bit strenuous, you can do easy through to super hard, I overcame my fear of heights and had a fantastic time. For experienced local knowledge about #backpackerfun with #backpackermates in #backpacksa, just ask at reception.

15.01.2022 Youve got to be there. Go now! https://www.buzzfeed.com//south-australia-is-the-best-plac

14.01.2022 We are very proud to announce that Hostel 109 Flashpackers, our property in Adelaide catering to higher end backpackers and budget travellers has, with the assistance of Kozco Energy, completed the installation of 43.9 kW of solar panels in three separate arrays on our roof. So far in December 2018, with a range of weather conditions including high-energy demand days of 38.9 and 39.6 degrees C, and low production days of heavy overcast and rain, we have produced 136% of our ...electricity demand on site. While it is still early days, we arent aware of another commercial scale CBD accommodation business in Australia that is a net generator of electricity! We are extremely proud of this real contribution to environmental sustainability. #backpackingfun with #backpackingmates in #backpacksa #travel #backpacking #electricity #energy #sustainability See more

12.01.2022 Its rockin at the Railway Hotel.

10.01.2022 Weve been really enjoying the Adelaide Fringe this year. If you get a chance checkout Marcus Ryan Walk the Que - an excellent story about his abject failure in avoiding exercise told in an engaging and very funny way.

08.01.2022 Do more in South Australia!

06.01.2022 So cute. Go now!

04.01.2022 There's a lot that's nice about an Adelaide autumn. Cool days for walking/rambling/tramping through the natural beauty of the Adelaide hills for one.

03.01.2022 Getting better every year!

03.01.2022 To all our guests, past present and future, we wish you good health in the face of the corona virus. We trust that wherever you are, you have found a safe haven, be that with your family at home or somewhere like us who are welcoming those on the road. If you have caught the virus, we wish you have a speedy and complete recovery. It is stating the obvious to say the virus has had a huge impact on the world and the world of travel which we all love so much. As we write this, t...he State Government of South Australia has imposed a requirement for 14 days self-quarantine on anyone coming into the State. We believe this will effectively stop people coming to Adelaide until it is lifted. However, bookings have already essentially stopped for us so we don't think the closing of the borders will actually change much for us. We are still open for business and providing hospitality in the time honoured fashion of hostelry, albeit in a much restricted fashion. If you need us, call 08 8223 1771. We are still answering the phone. We cannot currently provide self-isolation facilities but we are happy to welcome guests travelling intra-state or who have met the requirement for travel from interstate and we have some very reasonable long-term rates. We have also had contact from people who are or will be looking for farm workers particularly to pick in the apple and pear orchards in the Adelaide Hills. If you have a car particularly, there is or will be work to be had in and around Adelaide. Stay safe and healthy and follow the recommendations of the authorities. We will be here to welcome you to enjoy the wonders of our beautiful city and region. We're planning to spend our time as productively as possible so stay tuned for updates. With kind regards, the Team at Hostel 109 Flashpackers

02.01.2022 We're excited! Our new Website is up and running and you should check it out. We've got a live feed of available events so its always up to date. Of course we still let you know about our great room options. Bookmark it now to know what's happening in the greatest State in the Federation.

02.01.2022 While travel has pretty much stopped due to the Corona virus - hopefully soon to resume woth the opening of so e stare borders - a lucky few people stuck in Adelaide have found safety and a surrogate family at Hostel 109 Flashpackers. Dinners celebrating a variety of national dishes started by our resident Indian Chef Suman are exactly the reason people choose a hostel over AirBnB or a share house. Here we have guests from Iran, Argentina, Australia, England and Sicily. This week, dishes from Argentina and Iran were complimented by a 2005 Ambar Hill Shiraz from Queenslands granite belt wine region well deserving of its medals.

02.01.2022 For all those people out there that are scared of every thing in Australia - snakes, spiders, distance, open spaces, deserts, fruit growers, sharks, people with a sense of humour - this is a joke. Swimming with dolphins is not expensive! #backpackerfun with #backpackermates in #backpacksa #adelaide

02.01.2022 We enjoyed a paddle around Garden Island in the Dolphin Sanctuary this weekend (Thanks Phil). Beautiful sunny day, dolphins about, gorgeous mangrove creek, what a fantastic time. And after spending 20 years in North Queensland, what a pleasure to paddle a mangrove creek without fear of crocodiles or Bull sharks!!! #SouthAustralia really has it all! For some #backpackerfun with #backpackermates in #backpacksa, checkout Adventure Kayaking SA or ask at reception for special backpacker deals.

01.01.2022 Think you know beer? Why not give an Adelaide Bar Boys Beer Tour a go for something different? Adelaide has a fantastic range of pubs, bars and venues with craft beers and just plain great atmosphere. Get off the beaten track and away from the over-crowded East Coast that everyone visits and discover some real easy living and adventure in Adelaide.
