23.01.2022 - SOOTHING SEASONAL SYMPTOMS - For many of us, changes in seasons can bring some less-than-desirable symptoms - especially as trees and flowers start bloomin...g. If you find yourself with your head pounding, eyes watering, nose sniffling, or feeling dizzy, itchy, or tired from pollen in the air, there's an incredible essential oil trio that you can work with to support your body in getting back to a state of balance - Lemon, Lavender + Peppermint. Before we dive into how each one of these oils works to support us in finding seasonal relief - let's quickly cover why we experience seasonal symptoms in general. Essentially they happen when the body confuses typically harmless substances (like pollen) for invaders (like viruses + bacteria) and mistakenly thinks they’re attacking our cells. To prevent the attack, the immune system goes on overdrive producing antibodies and releasing histamines trying to fight the invaders which can result in a whole array of different symptoms. Basically, it majorly increases inflammation levels in the body and makes the sufferer feel like a big pile of crapola (that’s a scientific term). When you combine the three oils mentioned above, they form an extremely effective antihistamine, soothe inflammation, and help the body adapt to stress. In addition to their antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, and adaptogenic properties, these three bring even more soothing and balancing properties to the table. Lemon has expectorant properties (great for clearing phlegm), is cleansing (for the air, surfaces, and the body), and is both calming and uplifting helping to relieve fatigue, promote focus, and soothe stress. Lavender has a calming effect on the mind and body, is cleansing, calms skin irritations (rashes, hives, etc.), and can soothe swelling and pain. Peppermint promotes clear breathing, supports digestive health, soothes pain, promotes focus, and has cooling properties. Okay, now let’s get on to how to use them! It’s always best to choose a method that you could easily integrate into your life so it feels sustainable and enjoyable. - USAGE IDEAS - Add 1 drop Lemon, 1 drop Lavender, and 1 drop Peppermint to a shot glass of water and gargle for a minute or two, then swallow. Fill a veggie capsule with 2 drops Lemon, 2 drops Lavender, and 2 drops Peppermint oil (fill the rest with olive oil), and take like a supplement. Combine 1 drop Lemon, 1 drop Lavender, and 1 drop Peppermint with Fractionated Coconut Oil and apply to the bottoms of feet. Add 1 drop Lemon, 1 drop Lavender, and 1 drop Peppermint to a spoonful of raw, local honey and swallow. Add a few drops of each to a diffuser and keep it running in your home and/or office. And there you have it, the Three Musketeers of seasonal relief. Enjoy!
