25.01.2022 "Please stop being so heartless" The fed-up mayor of a regional border town has blasted Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's ‘cruel' and 'pathetic' decision to keep the state border closed. More on this story: https://7news.link/2QL2iDY
23.01.2022 Australia has now secured access to two more #COVID19 vaccines, ensuring Australians have the best shot at getting early access should trials prove them safe an...d effective. We aren’t putting all our eggs in one basket when it comes to vaccines and will continue to pursue further vaccines should our medical experts recommend them. These latest two deals with Novavax and Pfizer/BioNTech mean we have now secured access to four possible vaccines. What’s more, production of one of the leading vaccine contenders - the AstraZeneca/Oxford University vaccine will begin in Australia next week. Today I visited Scientia Clinical Research in Sydney to make this important announcement. Australia is doing better than most other developed countries when it comes to managing the #COVID19 virus and we will do everything we can to ensure that continues.

18.01.2022 RSPCA & POLICE RAID ON COPETON DAM ANIMAL BREEDING FACILITY Yesterday I was formally advised of a raid conducted by the RSPCA NSW and NSW Police Force on ...a property in the Copeton Dam area, regarding possible breaches of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979 (NSW). The property, which contains a commercial animal breeding facility, has been the subject of monitoring by authorities for some time. I strongly condemn any acts of cruelty perpetrated against animals, whether they be pets, native animals or livestock. Any person in breach of our State’s robust animal welfare laws should have the book thrown at them and will be prosecuted. The fact that a potential rogue operator has been the subject of investigation and a raid today is evidence that the NSW authorities take these matters incredibly seriously and have the legislative tools they need to take decisive action. The issue of cruelty towards companion animals who may be suffering due to illegal breeding practices is one that is close to my heart. One of my first actions in Parliament as the Member for the Northern Tablelands was to Chair the Joint Select Committee on Companion Animals Breeding Practices. This was instrumental in bringing in new protections for breeding animals and tracing systems for puppies to weed out any illegal breeding. I urge anyone who is aware of illegal activity in relation to the commercial breeding of animals to report them immediately to the appropriate authorities for investigation. As the raid yesterday on the property is the subject of an ongoing investigation it would be inappropriate for me to comment on the specifics of the case at this point in time, as it could potentially jeopardise future prosecution action. I will have more to say on this matter in due course. 14.01.2022 QUEENSLAND BORDER BUBBLE TO EXPAND SLIGHTLY I have just received news that Queensland Health has agreed to expand the 'border bubble' to include more towns... in our region! From 1am Thursday, 20 August, residents in Croppa Creek (postcode 2411), North Star (2408), Deepwater and Emmaville (2371) will be included in the ‘border bubble’ and will be allowed to cross into Queensland. This is very welcome news, but the battle continues to other communities in the region and other sensible exemptions in exceptional circumstances, including critical education, agriculture and emergency services activities. Thank you to everyone who has helped achieve this result!!

10.01.2022 MAJOR COLD SNAP, SNOW DOWN TO 550M A Complex low and associated cold front is set to bring vigorous and cold Antarctic air along with enough moisture for goo...d snowfall. Our first front will arrive through Wednesday, delivering around 20-30cm of snow for our alpine regions. A much stronger and colder burst will arrive later Thursday and into Friday, with the snow line dropping to 550m in NSW! Snow showers can be expected all the way up the Great Dividing Range to the Queensland border if there is enough moisture to meet this cold air. We will bring you further details as the weekend gets closer. www.nswincidentalerts.com
09.01.2022 It's not the police who need to be retrained, it's the public. We have grown into a mouthy, mobile phone wielding, vulgar, uncivil society with no personal resp...onsibility and the attitude of 'it's the other person's fault', 'you owe me'. A society where children grow up with no boundaries or knowledge or concern for civil society and personal responsibility. When an officer says "Put your hands up," then put your hands up! Don't reach for something in your pocket, your lap, your seat. There's plenty of reason for a police officer to feel threatened, there have been multiple assaults and ambushes on police officers lately. Comply with requests from the officer, have your day in court. Don't mouth off, or fight, or refuse to comply... that escalates the situation. Police officers are our sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters. They're black, white, brown, all colours, all ethnicities, all faiths, male and female, they are us. They see the worst side of humanity... the raped children, the bloody mangled bodies of traffic victims, the bruised and battered victims of domestic violence, homicide victims, body parts... day after day. They work holidays while we have festive meals with our families. They miss school events with their kids, birthdays, anniversaries, all those special occasions that we take for granted. They work in all types of weather, under dangerous conditions, for relatively low pay. They have extensive training, but they are human. When there are numerous attacks on them, they become hyper vigilant for a reason, they have become targets. When a police officer encounters any person... any person, whether at a traffic stop, a street confrontation, an arrest, whatever... that situation has the potential to become life threatening. You, Mr & Mrs/Miss Civilian, also have the responsibility of keeping the situation from getting out of control. Many law enforcement officers are Veterans. They've been in service to this nation most of their lives, whether on the battlefield or protecting us here at home. They are the only thing that stands between us and anarchy in the streets. If you want to protect your child, teach them respect. -Author unknown

02.01.2022 On this day... 19 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. #wewillneverforget #9/11 #11thSeptember2001
