20.01.2022 #challengeaccepted Now more than ever we need to support one another - and I’m all for the empowerment of women. Having been raised by strong beautiful women - mother, grandmothers, sisters who led the way by example and inspired me to always strive for your best, to be a good human citizen and to never accept any bullshit - I’ve been able to forge my own path as an independent thinker with a tribe of amazing women who support me everyday and empower me to shine. Thanks to @deborahlangleyyoga for inspiring me always and open me up to a yogic path that has transformed my life. I am forever grateful to have met you, to practice with you, to learn from you and to walk this human experience with you. #onelove #omshanti #shakti #empoweredwomenempowerwomen #bekind #befierce #bebrave #namaste

17.01.2022 It’s Tuesday....in fact it’s 15 Tuesdays since we had #BlackoutTuesday which apparently was supposed to end racism? . So I wonder what everyone has been up to since they posted a black square on their Instagram page? Have you begun educating yourself? Self reflecting on white privilege, colonialism, institutional racism, etc? Have you reached out to your friends or family to start talking about racism? Like what has everyone actually done? What action(s) have you taken? Wh...at impact are your action(s) having? . This is a marathon not a sprint. But you gotta join the race. #thehumanrace where we’re all equal and deserve equal rights..... . Feel free to comment if you want to share. Feel free to comment if you have questions. Feel free to unfollow if this post makes you feel offended, but just remember - you feeling free is a privilege not everyone has. . And if you want to join a community that wants to start having uneasy convos about this so we can start to educate ourselves so we can drive real sustainable change in our communities follow @uneasyconvos #nonnegotiableaction #BIPOC #bethechange #growth #communities #startaconversation #thetimeisnow #culture #conflict #reciprocity

11.01.2022 I’m afraid of heights so naturally 15 years ago I decided to jump out of a plane. I booked it on a day where they weren’t skydiving with tourists but professionals & semi-professionals trying to clock up their hours. I remember waiting for one guy to mow the grass to make a runway for take off. What resembled a crop plane had a side missing & I was the last (& highest) to exit. One by one they jumped & one of the last guys - a lawyer - pretended to accidentally fall out of ...the plane. I’m pretty sure that was for my benefit as they were teasing me all day. Making the decision to do it wasn’t hard but the ascension to 12,000 feet was an absolute nightmare...I had so much time to think about who the last person I spoke to, how I never told my mom I was jumping, and all the other things that justified this was probably the worst decision I had made in my life. And then as it was my time to jump, after that initial moment you realise you are free falling in the sky, all those thoughts disappear and it’s pure magic...you’re committed - this is it. Embrace it. Thirty or so seconds later the shoot opens and you have such an amazing peaceful descent the rest of the way down - enjoy the view & the company. So takeaways looking back? Making the decision is the easy bit, it’s getting on a new path that’s frightening. Overthinking or worrying is a bitch and accomplishes nothing - don’t do it. Confidence comes from facing your fears. Magic happens when you least expect it. And finally, don’t ever second guess yourself - your intuition is always right. So as I start on my next journey, I look back and think - I got this #befierce #bebrave #bekind #onelove #namaste See more
04.01.2022 When George Floyd’s death in late May sparked a global BLM movement, the conversations that ensued were profoundly confronting for me; which caught me by surprise. I started having conversations about racism with friends, family, community members, etc. that I found extremely triggering and I quickly realised everyone’s perspective on this was dramatically different. At the same time, seeing my social media flooded with comments on the issue that were ignorant, tone def and s...ome just plain offensive started to really get to me. I was also deeply disappointed by the lack of response from my yoga peak body. . So, I decided to speak out on this (see my insta post on 2 June). I felt intensely compelled to say something on the matter. Change starts with self. . Not long after @uneasyconvos was born. I was checking up on a few mates, fellow yoga leaders, during lockdown and realised they were just as angry and frustrated as I was on how our industry was responding to this issue. One grew to two, two grew to four, and now we have a collective of passionate leaders who are committed to driving change in the yoga industry and broader Australian community. It’s up to all of us to take action! #thetimeisnow ***YOGA LEADERS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE*** I’m so proud to launch this social justice initiative alongside some amazing people who happen to have the same passion that I do for this cause and who are extraordinary leaders in their communities. What’s the old saying.it takes a village? Introducing the Collective: @deborahlangleyyoga @jencrescenzo @gabibfit @jem_stone1 @stiff_to_splits @leyogadaylesford @hotchocolateinoz . DM if you want to get involved, I need all the help I can get. UnEasy Convos first mission is to reach 3% of the Australian population by the end of 2020. #uneasyconvos #change #grow #letsgetloud #thetimeisnow #startaconversation
