24.01.2022 A bit of autumn colour from the region over the last few days. Plenty of spectacular colours around now and too few to enjoy it. Hopefully 2021 will be better.
23.01.2022 Today would have marked the final day of the 2020 Bright Autumn Festival. Would love to be saying what a brilliant week it has been, but in truth much of it has... been cold, wet and bleak. Some sunny days early and a return of sunshine today. With luck, 2021 will be much kinder for us. Here are a few shots from during the week. A lot of leaves down but there is still a lot of colour around. See more

21.01.2022 Extreme to serene, Mount Beauty has something to offer for all. For those who like to push the limits in mountain biking, kayaking or gliding OR for those who would rather relax a little, read a favourite book by the river, explore on horseback or go fishing.

14.01.2022 SUPPORT LOCAL | Our local businesses are doing their best to adapt in the face of coronavirus challenges, but they need all the support they can get! Here are a... few ideas for how to support local - we’re all in this together! > Buy a takeaway meal from a local business. > Grab a takeaway coffee. > Before you order online from a business outside the shire, is there a local business that has what you need? > Buy books, gifts, toys, homewares, clothing, bikes, accessories and more from a local business rather than online. > Seek out Alpine Shire food suppliers, bakeries, butchers, pantries and cellar doors for a local foodie experience. > Consider local gift vouchers for loved ones to spend once restrictions on unessential travel are eased. > Does your favourite local business have a website? Order online and treat yourself or someone you care about. > Keep an eye on your local community social media pages - many of our businesses are great at promoting what they’re offering. > Buy something special for your mum for Mother’s Day. Watch this space (and our website) for more information on how we’re supporting businesses, including business mentoring, training opportunities and upcoming e-commerce support. A regular electronic newsletter is being sent to all local businesses to keep everyone informed - if you’re not receiving yours, please email [email protected].

13.01.2022 TRAFFIC ALERT: VicRoads has advised that parts of the Great Alpine Road between Harrietville and Hotham will be slowed to 40km/hr due to bleeding asphalt. The b...leeding is being caused by extreme heat conditions and increased holiday traffic. It’s not unusual for hot weather to result in some bleeding of the road surface, where the surface becomes soft and sticky. We thank drivers for their patience during this time please consider all road users including cyclists, motorcyclists and large vehicles during your travel on our amazing road. If you would like to stop to take photos of our incredible views on the way, please only pull over where it is safe to do so. Real-time traffic conditions are available at https://traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au/ or via the VicTraffic mobile app.
