22.01.2022 CFOs are like the ultimate coach. We develop a forward-thinking financial vision for your company, a strategy to guide your business into the future. Were also a critical aid to your CEO and board when facing decisions like key hires, expansion and more. Our Director Sarah has just won 2020 CFO of the Year, because we offer an outsourced CFO function, theres enough of the her and the team to go around. How does that work? Were an extension of your team, delivering a careers worth of insights, but without the overhead of an expensive hire. Visit https://hottoast.com.au/.
21.01.2022 Hint: nothing to do with actual books. Bookkeepers are responsible for more than just data entry, expense tracking and payroll. Yes, we manage your cashflow and ensure youre compliant with BAS requirements, super and payroll records, but were more than that. Were operational efficiency enthusiasts and business strategy masterminds. As an extension of your team, were always thinking what could we be doing better here or how can we grow your business. Contact us today for your free consultation via https://hottoast.com.au/.
21.01.2022 Good Morning Port Douglas! Always nice to escape the cold Sydney weather for a long weekend!
20.01.2022 AAW3 GRAND FINAL PREVIEW In celebration of International Salami Day, we sandwich our buns in between the meat today with our womens 3s, who are debut...ing in the Grand Final tomorrow for the first time in our clubs history. Already league winners and ESFA Trophy finalists; the girls will be looking to get anothe notch on the bedpost of ESFA silverware this season with a win tomorrow. A big thanks to team sponsors Watt Next Management and Hot Toast - Bookkeeping, Accounting & Support for your generous support this season. AAW3 v Sydney Uni Gold 7pm, Sunday 8th September 2019 Heffron Synthetic Ticket cost: 1x 6-pack, payable to club VP. Meet your team... Rachael Hamilton (Hammo) (CB) English. Will tell you shes from Surrey but sounds suspiciously like an Essex girl. Longer legs than a camel. 9 times out of 10 will get to the ball first with a header that looks like shes trying to burst the ball. Steph Bagnell - (CB/Striker) Canadian but also sounds a bit Irish?!? Loves a four cheese pizza. Miss Reliable, committed and silky first touch. Can read the game very well, communicates like an absolute gem. Jenna Lewandoski (CB) - Canadian no.2. Great left foot and as tough as they come. Dont get in her way in a 50/50 ball. The player you want on your side not theirs. Really loves hot sauce and Kevin (dog, not man). Hannah Cooke (LB) - longest standing puma and a great part of the defence. Solid left back and good first touch. Plays an accurate ball out from the back to continue the attacking up field. Northern. In her free time can be found lifting four times her weight in the gym and making everyone look bad with perfect form. Darina Kirilova (RB) Bulgarian, probably knows someone who could kill you. Speed machine at back right defence. Fittest player on the team, loves winning and great with one on one tacking, will give 110% every game. Maggie Dunnigan (CM) Very Scottish. Might know Lewis Capaldi. First in with the whiskys on a night out. Mid season defensive midfielder recruit. One of the finds of the season. Sets up play well and loves scoring spectacular headers. Goal of the season contender. Lucia Milanes (CM) Colombian, probably knows someone who could kill you but would most likely happily do it herself. Great energy on the team and if anyone can trap a high ball and play it on to her advantage its Luci. Great to have the chilled, relaxed and always composed Colombian back in the black and white after a few years off having son Wolfe. Amy Vinnicombe (CM) Basically Kevin De Bruyne. Attacking midfielder who has the best first touch in the team. A pleasure to watch and can play a mean through ball not forgetting her skill and goal scoring from the 18 yard box. Mini Vinni packs a big punch. Can be found being turned away from the sports bar having tried to get another round in. Daisy Tyszkiewicz (LW) Will tell you shes funny, smart, inspirational and the best player on the team. In reality: annoying. Does have the best 6 pack in the club (apart from the entry fees to this game). Will be found in the CBH with a whisky in one hand, e-cigarette in the other and a hat on the wrong way round. Freely admits her greatest moment of this season is discovering Churchills. Really misses Laura Cooper. Sarah Jane Lawrence (SJ) (RW) - Captain of the pumas second year running. Very loud, especially for an accountant. You can bet your life SJ will be the one ordering shots on a night out. Plays at high intensity and a good winger. One of most physical players on the team. Feeds a good cross into the centre of the 18 yard box. Always shines a positive light onto the game Rachel McCullough (EVERYWHERE) - Token Kiwi - Ask her to play any position and she will do 10/10. Seriously skillful with speed to boot. Most dangerous on the right wing and has the most accurate and powerful kick on the team. Match winner. Definitely made the right decision in believing Coogee United is a club close to Parramatta. Heater Noto (W) Unfortunately for her, American. Will tell you shes from the Bronx but grew up in the New York equivalent of Vaucluse. Loves Trump. Often confused as Daisys girlfriend. Winger who will run her heart out for the whole game, will end up on the floor after shes kicked the ball 9/10 times. Dina Grinberg (W) Actress, often has to miss football events for things like a Fanta commercial. Impact player that is deceiving to the opposition. Can read the game well and has a smooth accurate pass and loves a slide tackle. Occasionally brings her cats to games on leads. Bec Swiney (CF) Looks about 19 years old. Our goal scoring gem of the season. A fine example of calmness when finishing on goal. Speedy and reads the game well. One to be watched. Token Australian on the team. Maurissa McKillop (CF) - another American resident on the team, sadly. Had a brief break from football to grow a human. Created possibly the cutest child ever to be seen, the perfect distraction for opposition. Excellent player of the perfect assist ball to fellow attackers and can shoot from distance and score well from within the box. Another impact player who is passionate and loves her football. Lucy Darragh (GK) Swapped an egg shaped ball for a round one this year. The find of the season for the Pumas. Come and watch her play and watch raw talent at its best, a natural between the sticks. Seriously committed and defines the meaning of a team player. Token Aussie #2 David Watt (Coach) Bossy in his day job, bossy at home, bossy on the pitch. The team would be lost without his direction. Daughter keeps trying to eat his airpods. Dont touch his whiteboard because he will shout at you. Passionate and committed coach in his 5th year coaching for Coogee United. Has been instrumental in growing the team and progressing up the grades up to the top of division 3 this season. Jack Hakko (Coach) Loves a long neck. Also gin. Part of the dream team coaching duo working in partnership with David. Committed and provides valuable insight and ideas contributing to the Pumas ongoing success. Will 100% two foot you in training to teach you real game intensity.
20.01.2022 First of all, what the heck are 'lock up days'? Your lock up days are the time it takes to convert debtors, stock and work in progress into cash. It's vital for businesses to free up as much cash as possible at all times. Read: 2020. Need we say more? The higher your lock up days, the less cash you have available. The lower, the more you have available. To calculate lock up days in your business: (Debtors + stock + WIP) \ (annual sales * 365). This figure will give you an indication of on average, how long your business' cash is 'locked up' before it's usable. We've made a living out of helping businesses get on top of their cash flow, making operations efficient and minimising lock up days, among business-y things, so let us help you identify the best strategies to reduce your lock up days. 18.01.2022 When you first start your business, you wear *all* of the hats. But as the business grows, is it time to outsource your financial function and hire a bookkeeper? 2 reasons the answer might mean yes to that question: 1. Your time is money Hiring a bookkeeper is an investment - when youre looking at the books yourself, thats business development going undone or clients unattended to. Your bookkeeper will complete all the business critical but time-consuming tasks li...ke chasing customers for money, ordering stock, renewing supplier invoices and checking bank balances etc. 2. Your reporting obligations are getting, erm, complicated Most small business owners are time poor and they often leave reporting and financial obligations until they have to do it. If you dont keep records up to date and there are financial red flags going unnoticed, you may be in trouble when it comes time to report, pay suppliers or wages. Also, your bookkeeper is qualified to advise on reporting legislation updates and requirements. Get in touch for your free consultation, https://hottoast.com.au/.

17.01.2022 Victoria and NSW are doing it pretty tough right now (our hearts are especially with our Victorian clients). Both the Victorian and NSW governments have come to small business aid with varied grants. The new $534 million Victorian Business Support package will provide more than 80,000 eligible businesses with a $5,000 grant to support them through the renewed restrictions. The NSW Small Business Recovery Grant for up to $3,000 is now open for applications and can be used to... cover expenses such as marketing and advertising, fit-out changes or staff training to operate in a COVID-19 safe way. Were with you on the road out (even when that road feels more like a continuous roundabout), and we will keep you updated as more information becomes available. Need help applying, or best placing the funds if youre eligible for a grant? Get in touch today via www.hottoast.com.au.

15.01.2022 Your balance sheet, that is. So, your business is profitable, but is it solvent? Keep on top of these 4 areas within your balance sheet to maximise success. 1. Profitability An obvious one. Increase profit by improving customer retention, generating more leads, increasing your conversion rate, increasing transaction value or frequency, or reducing costs or overheads.... 2. Cashflow The more cash you have in your business, the stronger it will be. A lesson some of us have hard learned this year. Focus on strategies that will reduce your 'cash conversion cycle', or the time your cash is tied up in stock or accounts receivable. For example, negotiate better payment terms with suppliers, reduce inventory or minimise debtor days. 3. Solvency The two components of solvency are your ability to pay debts as they fall due; and having greater assets than liabilities. If your business is insolvent, immediate action must be taken. 4. Shareholder Advance Accounts If this is currently an asset on your Balance Sheet, shareholders have taken more from the business than what they're entitled to. Risky move. To reduce an overdrawn Shareholder Advance Account, revisit your own budget and reduce drawings you're taking from the business. Make sure your finance team is in ship shape. At Hot Toast, our savvy bookkeepers pave the way for our CFOs to do their thing, keeping your balance sheet balanced and your business growing. Get in touch via www.hottoast.com.au.

13.01.2022 Choosing the right bookkeeper is more important than you first might give thought to they know your most intimate financial details and cant skip a beat. Youll know if you have a good one if they do the following: 1. Understand your MO a good bookkeeper should know your books back to front, getting the time to know your operations, cashflow and expected expenses, so nothing is missed or duplicated. 2. Ask the tough questions - spending more than usual? A good bookkeepe...r will ask why, because theyre proactive and have your best business interests at heart. 3. Does your bookkeeper understand the best applications and technology workflows for your business to drive efficiency? A good bookkeeper will be able to review the business workflow (not just the accounts department) and recommend and help implement technology and applications that make the business run smoothly. 4. Provide you with strategic advice a good bookkeeper will ensure your accounts are managed efficiently. An excellent bookkeeper should give advice in times of adversity or if youre looking to grow. Spoiler: we possess all of these traits, and wed love to work together. Get in touch via https://hottoast.com.au/ for your free consultation.

09.01.2022 Small business owners exhaled a collective phew on 21 July when Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg confirmed that JobKeeper payments will be extended beyond the September 27 cliff through to March 2021. The JobKeeper program will remain in place as is until 27 September and then operate differently until 28 March 2021. Under JobKeeper 2.0, there are changes to eligibility and payment amounts for full-time and part-time employees. But you a...lready know that. Together, lets figure out how this extended life line is going to bolster your position heading into 2021, and how youre going to shuffle cashflow to accommodate for the increased wage bill that you have to cover from September. With the help of our outsourced CFOs, you can still achieve your big, hairy business goals.. its literally our business to make sure they happen. See more
09.01.2022 This IS the sign you've been looking for, to put that entrepreneurial hat back on and take your business to the next level. Have a look at these 7 ways to grow your business; the first 5 to increase sales and the last 2 to decrease costs. 1. Increase customer retention. Stop your customers defecting to the competition by keeping them happy. It's easier to retain existing clients than attract new ones.... 2. Increase leads generated. Gain more enquiries from people who are not yet customers with improved marketing strategies. 3. Increase your sales conversion rate. Get more of your prospects to buy from you by following up effectively and building rapport. 4. Increase transaction frequency. Engage your customers to buy from you more often. 5. Increase transaction value. Help your customers buy additional products or services or bigger volumes. 6. Reduce cost of sales. Increase your margin by improving efficiency to reduce the costs that go into your product. 7. Reduce overheads. Eliminate or better manage your fixed business costs. Right, where do you start? We're business growth extraordinaires, so get in touch and we'll tackle it together. Find us at www.hottoast.com.au.
08.01.2022 Get paid or die tryin'. That's our motto. Not really, but we appreciate that chasing invoices is often the sorest of the pain points for business owners, so we're sharing a simple 'get paid' plan to implement in going forward. 1. Draft and save a standard email to remind debtors that their invoice is overdue. A simple nudge will prompt forgotten invoices most of the time. 2. If your email is ignored, we're going old school - a phone call is in order. 3. Consider incorporatin...g a late fee into your invoice terms. 4. Time to bring in the big guns. Pause services until payment is received. 5. For large invoices, professional debt collectors may need to be involved. Bad news? Likely severing relationship with this client. Good news? Getting paid - you don't work (just) for love! We are business strategists and growth experts at our core, which means putting protocols like these in place to keep your machine well oiled (aka cashed up). Need help clarifying your terms of service, following up on late invoices or writing off unpaid debt? Get in touch for expert support and guidance, www.hottoast.com.au.

05.01.2022 We work with many businesses within the creative industry, who have been among the hardest hit this year. Weve seen this industry show incredible agility, resilience and strength, but undoubtedly financial and mental health impacts are being felt by many, especially for those in Victoria in extended Stage 4 lockdown. Were pleased to see that this year a dialogue around mental health is occurring on a wider, more public scale. To all of our clients and friends in the industr...y that are affected, were thinking of you and we hope youre taking care of yourselves. 04.01.2022 Hang in there, small business owners! We know its a tough waiting game, the time between JobKeeper 2.0s announcement and when its actually legislated. Parliament is next sitting from 24 August, and it is expected JobKeeper 2.0 will be passed during this sitting. Once it is passed, well digest the legislation overnight and be able to advise you regarding your eligibility under the new scheme. Of course, well keep you updated as to any further developments in the mean time.

04.01.2022 Attention, CFOs, our clients are calling upon us to do more and WE BLOODY LOVE IT. Traditionally the CFO has been responsible for the financial management of a company, including oversight and management of risk, record keeping and reporting. Fundamentally, none of this has changed. What has changed for us CFOs is the scope and the opportunity that now exists in the SME space that has come with technology and access to data. Our ability to leverage our financial training an...d expertise in association with the operational and strategic parts of the business has been a real game changer for proactive CFO’s (aka, us). All CFOs worth their crust understand that whilst our role is grounded in experience and technical knowledge, the real magic happens when we are able to support the business in a holistic way to affect change and drive strategy. That's what we'll be focusing on with our clients in 2021. www.hottoast.com.au
