25.01.2022 Routing out a v-groove feature for this coffee table had a much bigger impact than I anticipated . This feature was part of the original design drawing the client provided, and its turned out great! . I set the fence up on the router table to create the outside grooves, then nudged it back to create the inside grooves.... . Running the top and bottom edge against the fence resulted in an even spacing between all grooves. . @carbatec router lift doing a great job, as with the @microjig gripper! 23.01.2022 Figured we might as well do something with all this wine that isolation has us drinking... . Bird Feeder made from an empty bottle of wine and a few pieces from the workshop scrap bin . The top prevents the bottle tipping over, and the bottom holds the feed - the middle section supports the bottle so it is just 1mm above the base. 21.01.2022 Yesterday was all about clamping - I spent the morning making up clamping jigs to ensure perfectly perpendicular clamping pressure in the leg joints . The pictures show the coffee table top thats been clamped up, and then photos of how the leg joints come together . 21.01.2022 An Easter long weekend well spent in the workshop - this is the beginnings of a low Japanese style coffee table . First I took the rough timber boards and cut them to rough length - then spent some time on the jointer/thicknesser to square the material ready for glue up . The coffee table will be 1200x600x220 - with the top being 45mm thick it weighs a tonne!... . The @sawstopsaws from @carbatec is an incredibly safe bit of kit with a retracting blade if any skin ever comes in to contact with the blade . And the @microjig gripperrr is always at hand for push stock through the saw... . 10.01.2022 Installing the drawer slides before cabinet assembly makes it so much quicker to get to this stage. Once the stretchers are screwed in to place, the cabinet carcasses are finished and ready to receive the drawers . Started by clearing out an overly cluttered dumping ground, to make way for the extractor to be hung on the wall . Followed it up by mounting the new drill charging station to house the new Bosch power tools... . Finally took the bench seat out of the clamps, sanded it down and got a coat of @osmo_australia oil on it; bringing out the grain nicely . I chose this combination as the tile provides a hard wearing and care free surface that wont always need a coaster, whilst the timber adds warmth and a sturdy base... . 01.01.2022 When making up cabinets, I try to install all the runners and hardware before I assemble the cabinet . Two main reasons 1. It is so much easier to mark out where the screws need to go when the panels are lay flat - I make up a quick jig that references the screw holes, rather than having to get a ruler out for every point 2. When the cabinet is stood up, gravity works against you and things can start to move around and be painful... . The @boschbluecrewanz 12v drill / driver combo are perfect for this sort of work - really lightweight with plenty enough power to get the job done .
