07.01.2022 River Murray water levels will be lowered at Lock Six (Murtho) from today, to improve the health of riverbanks and wetlands. The lowering event will be the firs...t time water levels are deliberately lowered below normal operating range for environmental benefit, with the water level to be gradually lowered by up to 20cm at Lock Six, and returned to normal by around mid-June. The community are encouraged to give feedback on the trial. To receive SMS updates on the water lowering trial, text 0438 539 271. To provide feedback on the trial contact DEW Engagement Officer Jodie Woof, on 8595 2141 or email [email protected]. This video looks at why we raise and lower water levels and how it helps fish, birds, vegetation and other wildlife.
