The obento from Hiro Japanese was so delicious and there were only a few grains of leftover in the end. We love having new faces at the Centre!!

10.01.2022 What a fabulous day with Year 9 Students from Busselton through the Busselton and Sugito Sister City Association! There was obento, tea ceremony, calligraphy and hanko, Kendama races, and Yukata dressing. Special thanks to Hiro Japanese for an amazing obento that was devoured in a record 15 minutes, to Mrs Noriko Sakashita for a beautiful tea ceremony demonstration, and to the exquisite Izumi Woods for teaching our students how to wear yukata. They couldn’t get all the way to Japan, but with the support of our wonderful friends we were able to give them a small taste of Japanese culture.

Well done to all of our participants and especially the prize winners, who will be purchasing some yummy food and beverage items from FujiMart. Until next time!

05.01.2022 Hyogo Cultural Centre has been trying different ideas to keep in touch with our Members during the period of closure. We've been creating and emailing language resources and activity ideas, we've made a few videos to try and make you laugh, and we've done some online games such as Bingo and the Hyogo Saturday Quiz. However, the idea that generated the biggest response by far was sending handwritten postcards to everyone. Many Members expressed genuine surprise and joy at receiving our little "Thinking of You" reminder in the post and commented on the personal touch. We are thrilled that our small gesture could bring you happiness in these difficult times. We can't wait to resume normal activities and welcome everyone back!

04.01.2022 At times you could hear a pin drop as the concentration was intense, but then as participants relaxed, there was excited chatter and much laughter as wonderful paper collages were created during the Perth Sogetsu Ikebana Association’s paper workshop today. What a talented group we had attending! And such amazing diversity in their creations!
