24.01.2022 This week's two minute Homilist is Deacon Peter Devenish-Meares, who serves in the Jubilee parish among a number of roles: "Jesus knows the value of a parable t...o teach important lessons...He points to the Kingdom of Heaven in both the parable of the hidden treasure and of the pearl...We don't have to go in search of paddocks for hidden treasure chests, it's actually us being invited by God, who comes into our lives, as we live our stories..." 23.01.2022 Parts of the reflection from this week's two minute homilist, Deacon Andrew O'Brien, sit comfortably within the context of the recent Season of Creation: "The i...ssue of power generation has become a central debate in our society and the world more broadly...Questions about the best methods of generation and use of energy are legitimate. But what are our motives when asking them? If the motives are built on hatred and destruction of the truth then the question will not be answered. If the motives are built on genuine respect for humanity and ultimate humility before God then, whatever the temporal decision or material outcome, love will subsume." 23.01.2022 In line with the easing of restrictions, parishes within the Archdiocese of Brisbane have adopted new protocols for worship. We remain vigilant about social distancing and hygiene, so please follow the directions provided at your parish.

20.01.2022 With around 6 Mass centres in the Jubilee Parish, its no wonder that Fr Gerry Kalinowski keenly feels the separation around the table of the Lord. Here he refle...cts on the Feast of Corpus Christi in this week's two minute homily: "A sacramental church knows that the physical, the tangible reality of bread and wine, gathering with others, the smells are important...to be physically present, to engage with one another, to taste as well as see the goodness of the Lord." 20.01.2022 Who would you most like to speak to upon making it to heaven? Family, friends or the famous? Archbishop Mark Coleridge gave an insight into some of his wish list in a homily today at the Jubilee Mass.

20.01.2022 This is a debut effort as a two minute homilist from New Farm Parish Priest Fr Nacho. What better day to step out bravely than Pentecost Sunday?: "The Acts of t...he Apostles says that the Holy Spirit empowered the apostles with different gifts and blessings transforming them from being fragile and coward, to becoming strong and brave to preach the Good News around the world." 18.01.2022 This is Reconciliation Week and we share an interview with Toni Janke, Indigenous Services Co-ordinator from Centacare Brisbane, about the importance of this we...ek and continued progress towards reconciliation. You can read the full interview https://bit.ly/36XkBgz Toni shared with us this reflection; As Catholics we value the teachings of Christ and the importance of loving and serving others. Each of us is called to make a difference in the lives of others. In this way, true reconciliation is about coming together to love and respect each other despite our differences or challenges.

15.01.2022 For this week interview, meet Nick our Parish Youth Coordinator chatting with Fr Joson!

11.01.2022 Enjoy this reflection, shared last week by Archbishop Mark Coleridge during Refugee Week. In recent years there has been an extraordinary movement of people ar...ound the globe. Not since the end of World War II have we seen so many decide to leave their homeland in search of survival. It has been dramatic in the Mediterranean and Middle East but also in South East Asia and Central America. Australia too has seen an influx of people seeking refuge and asylum, though nothing like elsewhere. The global response to this exodus has at times been brutal, based usually on the misperception that these people are being drawn by prosperity rather than pushed by desperation. They have nowhere else to go. They are the new homeless. Pope Francis has often spoken up in their defense, pleading for the more humane and welcoming approach which the Gospel demands. Building walls is destructive not only for those kept out but also for those trying to protect themselves. We need not walls but bridges. Once we start building bridges and embracing the other, we see that those who come seeking refuge and asylum are not a burden but a blessing. See more

10.01.2022 For this Sunday's two minute homily we find the Mother of Mercy parish's fairly recently installed Fr Neville Yun reflecting on an interesting series of reading...s. The upshot seems be not afraid: "We are extolled to keep God at the forefront of our minds and our hearts, and not give the Devil a foothold anywhere in our lives. You are so precious in God’s eyes. Take great care of the spiritual temple..." (Sunday's readings available: https://universalis.com/20200621/mass.htm) See more

08.01.2022 As the culmination of National Vocations Awareness Week, it's fitting that today's two minute homilist FrMichael Grace makes the link between vocation and the r...eadings for the day: "It's the vocation of every Christian to follow the Lord responding to His call in our lives. To venture forth, overcoming the obstacles and risk, to follow Him wherever he leads us...like Peter, in this weekend’s Gospel, perhaps we truly desire to take a bold step of faith towards the Lord, even knowing that the seas are rough..." 07.01.2022 It's rare, but not unusual, for the Feast of the Assumption to fall on a Saturday. What is totally different in a time of COVID-19 is that the obligation is lif...ted for what is one of the two Holy Days of Obligation set down by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference . Fr Tom Elich from Liturgy Brisbane helps make sense of celebrating this day in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mass times for all Brisbane parishes celebrating the Feast are located on https://bit.ly/3dSrD7W

05.01.2022 For the first time we find Fr Paul Chackanikunnel CMI in his new milieu, out at Our Lady of the Angels Parish (Chermside and Wavell Heights). His two minute hom...ily reflects on a woman of unshakeable faith: "Jesus, the great teacher, in today’s gospel, pulls the intensity of the situation to bring out the best expression of faith from the Canaanite woman to help us understand the mission of the Messiah....At times it may be required of us to rise above our culture, socially acceptable patterns, and religious milieu, on pastoral reasons, to accomplish the prophetic mission invested in us.
