22.01.2022 Here are two tips to manage your HR documents in the digital era: Think about retention procedures: if you were to be audited tomorrow, do you have all the HR management documents that you need and how much of what you have do you even need to keep? Rethinking your folder structure: from where documents are saved, to what is being saved, can revolutionise your folder structure making it much easier for you and your colleagues to find and identify gaps in HR documentation. Its hard to know where to start but hopefully, this article can push you into the right direction: https://www.myob.com///hr-management-in-paperless-offices/

18.01.2022 Count the times you have said - I just dont have the time to clean out those cupboards, to learn to play golf, to plan my financial future or examine and update my business processes? COVID-19 hasnt been great for many, many businesses. But we need to keep looking forward and find ways to adapt and manage. This can be the time to assess what you have in your business - your processes, your systems. Are they still current? Do they need updating/changing? Is it time that you may now have to re-assess, re-design, re-brand and re-move onwards?! With so many products to support any business big or small, start researching! You might not have this unexpected (kinda) quiet time again.

09.01.2022 If the employee has been advised to self-isolate/quarantine by a medical authority, but is not presenting with any symptoms (i.e. they are not sick), and the employee cannot work from home, the employee would be entitled to paid leave for the self isolation/quarantine period unless he/she agrees to treat the absence as annual leave or long service leave. If your employee has contracted the virus or is required to care for a family or household member who has contracted the virus, they should be entitled to take personal leave for any absence from work. It is advisable that the employee provide you with a medical certificate clearing them to return to work. 03.01.2022 Casual employees are not entitled to sick leave. Therefore if a casual employee has been diagnosed with Coronavirus, has returned from travelling to an at risk country, or has been exposed to someone with the virus, you are not required to offer any additional payment. However they should also adhere to the above self-isolation/quarantine should they be at risk or have the Coronavirus, and they too should only return to your workplace once they have obtained a medical certificate clearing them fit to return. https://hrcentral.com.au/blog/coronavirus-workplace-faqs/

03.01.2022 . ? Coronavirus is mentioned in every news bulletin, in most conversations, and inevitably this can make people anxious. If your employees are fearful that you are not doing enough to ensure safeguarding the spread of the virus or that they are worried about the business and whether or not their jobs are at risk, you need to address this with respect and honesty. Demonstrate tha...t you are taking this seriously, as the line between reasonable and unreasonable anxiety is subjective at any given moment, and have their best interests at heart. Maybe suggest that they work from home if that would make them more comfortable and it suits your business. If you are needing to cut back hours or wanting your staff to take some of their annual leave until the crisis dies down, have the conversation with them. Try to find the best possible outcomes for everyone and be open, frank and listen. This is an unusual event for everyone, and because it is a global health crisis it may for many be too overwhelming and heighten stress levels. We also recommend that you provide mental health support if required. If you need any help about this, please give us a call 1300 717 721
