23.01.2022 Dear students, During the coronavirus pandemic, WHO recommends, hands should be washed frequently and thoroughly for at least 20 seconds duration, particularly returning from public areas, before taking meals, after coughing or sneezing, after using the toilet, and whenever the hands are dirty. University students are critical in this time as the important workforce of the society and for the disease transmission. But how compliant are they with the WHO guided hand hygiene... practices against COVID-19? The aim of this study is to investigate if the handwashing messages are effective in creating a change in the hand washing practices among the university students during the pandemic in Australia. All domestic and international UOW students living in Australia are invited to participate in this short online survey (approx. 5-7 minutes) to share your experience of frequent hand washing during the pandemic to contribute in the learning through our research. This study has ethics approval from all concerned approval bodies of UOW. The UOW ethics approval number is 2020/295. 10.01.2022 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year. Many of us are not knowledgeable or confident in our ability to offer assistance. Physical first aid is accepted & widespread in our community, though most don’t cover mental health problems. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches individuals like ourselves the skills to help someone who they may be concerned about. MHFA courses teach people simple, practical first aid skills for helping a family member, friend, co-wor...ker or other person who is experiencing mental health problems. What’s more, you’ll be able to actively reduce stigma in your community, by responding appropriately to myths and misunderstandings about mental illness. This course will teach you: how to listen and respond to someone with a mental health problem, even if they’re experiencing a crisis how to help someone to access the support they might need for the successful management of symptoms as part of their recovery journey.
