The High Court has ruled that personal leave accrual is based on 10 "notional" days ie the average hours that the person works in a week, not 10 days at whatever their daily number of hours is. Part-time employees are now entitled to accrue two weeks of personal leave based on their weekly hours, not 10 days at 8 hours, which was the state of the law until today. Shift workers are now entitled to accrue two weeks of personal leave based on their average weekly ...hours, not 10 days at (say) 12 hours. Great to see commonsense prevail. Now they just need to sort out the casual issue...

13.01.2022 This company (On the Run) is in a world of pain... fined $65k for underpaying an employee less than $3k AND there is a class action underway for $50-$70m. You dont "volunteer" for overtime.... if employees are working extra hours that they dont need to be, there are fair and reasonable ways to manage that. Turning a blind eye or actively encouraging them to work for no extra pay is not okay #dohrwithease

For anyone who can't read the story, breaches included 5 sites that were connected to the grid without being authorised, and 2 operators installing concrete slabs without metal rods. 49 sites inspected and 74 breaches... We are pleased to say that we choose to work with construction companies that do the right thing by their people in terms of safety and pay... If safety is being compromised there is every chance there are shortcuts being taken around employee entitlements as well
