20.01.2022 Last night we received advice from ANSW that the Government has restricted events to 20 people (Including spectators) under their COVID 19 powers Given that there could be that less than 20 show up, we just don’t know, this makes it really tricky to know how to manage this situation and not inconvenience people. The Committee has been in discussion regarding how best to manage this and has decided on the following:... That we ask those wishing to attend to reply via email to advise us of that intention ASAP. The first 20 responders will be able to attend, any others will be advised they have missed out. It will be based on the time of your response. All respondents will be advised will get a response one way or another. You won’t be able to bring any spectators with you. It is extremely unfortunate that we have had to do this and thank you for your understanding and co-operation. HSL Committee

13.01.2022 A reminder that as per our rules we do not allow flying at Maddens Plains on TOBAN days. Please check the RFS website before you fly. We are in zone 5, Illawarra/Shoalhaven. https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/fdr-and-tobans One of the conditions to fly over 400ft is to monitor the local area frequency, we also highly recommend that the CTAF frequency for Wedderburn is monitored as well. The other listed frequencies on the rule sheet are for general interest only and ...will be removed from the rule sheet next update. - Sydney Centre, Kings Tableland area frequency, 124.55 MHz - Wedderburn CTAF, 122.55 MHz Thx Col Woodward HSL Secretary

11.01.2022 Sadly Murray Scott passed away today on his 80th birthday. Murray was a founding member of SSL and was our first President. He was also a founding member of Hea...thcote Soaring League in Sydney. From a control line background, Murray moved into RC and gliding. He was one of the first glider pilots in Australia to achieve LSF Level One and was number 433 in the world. Murray went on to fly nearly every facet of our hobby. Aerobatics, scale and helicopters were part of his long passion for aeromodelling. Our thoughts go out to his wife Bev, and children Alexis and Yolanda. See more

10.01.2022 Great day flying today, we had 5 rounds flown to f5j rules. The wind did not come up as forecast which was great. 18 pilots enjoyed some interesting thermal conditions with Radians winning a few heats. Large lift and tricky sink patches/cycles had to be negotiated. Congrats to Mike Malherbe winning the day and the club championship. Don came second today and Phil Bird third, well done all.... In limited congrats to Geoff Ross-Clift first today with John Town second and Rob Watson third. The next event at our field will be the Picton Cup Round 2 on the 6th of Dec. See you all then, Col

01.01.2022 Hi guys The Committee have been monitoring the weather forecast closely over the past week and have decided just now to cancel the event. Thank you to the 16 people who registered to attend the Millennium Cup competition tomorrow, hopefully the weather and covid restrictions are more favourable for Shoalhaven on the 1/11/20... Kevin And from Fred, All, The Sydney area forecast for tomorrow (Sunday) has a 90% chance of showers in the morning and afternoon along with a chance of thunderstorms. These are not suitable conditions for thermal glider flying nor for standing out in an open field. So, The HSL round of the 2020 Millennium Cup is cancelled. The next round is the Nowra round (and the Shoalhaven Shield). This might be the only round we are able to actually run in 2020. Cheers Fred Lodden On behalf of the Millennium Cup Committee.
