15.01.2022 Soil Fact Tuesday!! Let's talk Iron! Iron is an essential microelement for plants to synthesize chlorophyll and make use of nitrates. Levels are directly related to pH - deficiency is common in alkaline soils - plant availability of iron increases as pH rediuces. Iron uptake can be reduced by high phosphates, calcium, manganese, copper and/or zinc.

06.01.2022 Soil Fact Tuesday!! You know about NPK, but do you know about S? Sulphur imparts flavour to fruit and vegetables. It is a major element which is frequently overlooked and if deficient is a limiting factor to productivity. It competes with phosphorous for absorption, so if phosphorous is high, additional sulphur is needed. Sources include: elemental sulphur, potassium sulphate, calcium sulphate (gypsum) or cow manure as a natural source.
