23.01.2022 Look at these legends! These are some of the HSU members at Calvary Bruce Private Hospital who have been negotiating for months for a new agreement. Today they've kicked off voting for a deal that secures a 3% pay rise for each year of their 3-year agreement with no trade-offs.... Congratulations to these smiling HSU members proof of what happens when you stand united.

22.01.2022 HSU Officials will be at Sydney Adventist Hospital tomorrow to discuss your new Enterprise Agreement at the following times and locations: Radiography staff room: 10am-11am Cafeteria: 12pm-1pm Meeting Room, Level 5: 2pm-3pm... This is your chance to have a say about you pay and conditions. If you can’t attend one of the meetings fill in the survey to let the Union identify the issues that matter to you: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/syd-adv-eba-2020

20.01.2022 Everyone deserves a safe workplace. Everyone deserves a safe hospital. We stand with striking HSU members across NSW who are demanding safer hospitals for workers and our communities.

20.01.2022 Voting for the proposed Healthe Care (NSW Private Hospitals) Health Professionals and Support Services Agreement 2019 is underway, with the ballot due to close at 4pm on Monday 16 March 2020. The HSU is strongly encouraging all employees to vote NO to the proposed Agreement. We are doing this on the basis that believe the pay increase of 2.2% for the first year, 2.2% for the second year, 2.5% for the third year, and 2.5% for the fourth year is inadequate. We also believe that... pay parity at acquired Healthe Care hospitals should be implemented as soon as possible, and not towards the end of the Agreement as is currently being proposed by Healthe Care. The only way that we can continue to fight on your behalf is for a majority of employees to vote No to the Agreement. What happens if the majority of employees vote ‘no’ to the proposed Agreement? A ‘No’ vote would force Healthe Care back to the bargaining table. They would be required to continue negotiating with the HSU something that the HSU told Healthe Care was our preferred option before Healthe Care decided to put the proposed Agreements out to a vote without the consent of the HSU. Healthe Care is telling employees that there will be no wage increase and no change to conditions if the Agreement is voted down. While the pay increase and improved conditions will not take effect immediately, a ‘No’ vote would mean that the HSU can return to the bargaining table in a strong position, with the ability to push for a better wage increase and pay parity at acquired sites sooner than 2023. Does Healthe Care know how employees vote? Healthe Care does not have the ability to find out which employees voted and how they voted. Your employee number is given to the voting company so that this can be married up to the records provided by Healthe Care, meaning that they can confirm that non-employees cannot vote (or that the same employee cannot vote more than once). But your vote is confidential, and you will not be targeted by Healthe Care because of how you choose to exercise your vote. Why does my vote matter? Every vote matters. Your Agreement governs the conditions of your employment for the life of the Agreement, and it is imperative that you have your say. If you have not yet voted, make sure that you do so before 4pm on Monday 16 March 2020. If you cannot access the voting link, make sure that you talk to your manager immediately. If you have any questions in relation to the proposed Agreement or the HSU’s No campaign, please contact the HSU on 1300 478 679 or send an email to [email protected].

18.01.2022 We are our (40,000!) strongest when we are united. Welcome to every new member who has joined the fight for a better future at work. And thank you!! to those long term faithfuls (you legends) who have been leading this fight for years.

17.01.2022 Pauline + Marie = BRAVE | DETERMINED | UNIONISTS Today Pauline and Marie presented their employer Laverty Pathology with hundreds of signatures on our petition calling for a fair pay rise. For years Laverty employees have been paid some of the lowest rates in the industry but now they're organising for a better deal. And with brave, determined union leaders like Pauline and Marie, they're going to win!

16.01.2022 Let's remember the health workers who are supporting us through this crisis

08.01.2022 Cleaners working for ISS at St George Hospital are getting organised to fight for better pay and conditions. Currently they are paid $160 less per week then cleaners in other public hospitals while doing the same job. Yet ISS recorded a profit of $518 million last year. All they are demanding same pay for same job. Isn't that only fair?

07.01.2022 The Private Health Division is calling on all private health operators who have been given funding by the Federal and State Governments to provide free parking during the COVID-19 crisis. During this pandemic, frontline health workers employed by private hopsitals are performing the same work and are as valuable as public health employees. If a private hospital has been bailed out by the government to ensure the continued viability of their business, then the least that they can do is ensure that health workers don't have to worry about paying for parking. If you believe that private health workers should not have to pay for parking, and should receive the same benefits as public health employees, then please sign and share the petition.

05.01.2022 This week, Sydney Adventist Hospital issued the Notice of Employee Representational Rights (NERR) in relation to the Adventist HealthCare Limited Allied Health and Support Services Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020. This means that the bargaining process for anew Agreement, which will replace the current Agreement at Sydney Adventist Hospital, will soon commence. It is imperative that we understand what matters most to HSU members at Sydney Adventist Hopsital prior to the comme...ncement of the negotiations for the Agreement. If you are an employee at Sydney Adventist Hospital and are having issues at work, believe that you deserve a fair pay increase or would like to see changes to your conditions of employment that will have a practical impact on your day-to-day working life, the HSU would like to know. The survey will be open until the end of February, after which we will collate all of the data. This data will form the basis of the HSU’s log of claims for the bargaining process, so make sure that you fill in the survey and let us know what you think! You can fill in the survey using the link below. The HSU will update members regularly regarding the Agreement negotiations, including when they commence. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, you can talk to your HSU delegate, send an email to [email protected] or call the HSU on 1300 478 679.

05.01.2022 Today is THANK YOU For Working In Aged Care Day! Tens of thousands of HSU members work in aged care. Their work ensures that older Australians live with dignity and respect. So THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. The work you do deserves recognition and today the HSU will be there to celebrate with you!... Here are just a few of the people who want to say THANK YOU too...

04.01.2022 Q: How many Calvary Riverina members does it take to negotiate a new agreement? A: As many as we can fit around the table! These HSU legends have been trying to get a new agreement for too long. They’ve stuck together and won’t be backing down until members get the offer they deserve. Negotiations can be tough but when you’re Union there’s always someone by your side- literally!

02.01.2022 The despicable decision by the federal government last night could potentially mean that workers will be forced into voting on changes to their Enterprise Agreement with 24 hours' notice. For private health workers, employers might attempt to alter clauses that relate to the ability to force employees to take annual leave without notice or delete clauses relating to future pay increases. If you hear of this being suggested in your workplace, it is important that you contact the HSU immediately. In the meantime, it is now more important than ever that we stick together and fight against any unfair changes that employers might seek to make to your hard-won conditions.

02.01.2022 Right now at the HSU's Newcastle office: a meeting of Laverty members are discussing a pay offer!

01.01.2022 Did you see the news that baboons escaped from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney?

01.01.2022 BRING ON BARGAINING! Check out the HSU Healthe Care Bargaining Team. They might look nice but today they’ve been preparing to fight for a better deal for thousands of Healthe Care workers-now they’re now fully qualified negotiating ninjas!
