19.01.2022 Theatre is not just a casual past-time or throwaway entertainment! Being involved in theatre develops life skills that are essential to a well-rounded individual, skills that are transferable in the real world .. Self-esteem, problem-solving, confidence, word power, teamwork, language skills, public speaking and presentation are just a snapshot of the benefits of participation. Aside from seeing engaging live entertainment, being an audience member helps people to process th...e world around them, helps in fostering an understanding of relationships, it builds empathy and provides a roller coaster of emotion. Theatre, and the arts in general, are essential to young people's development, helping them to appreciate and adapt to the world, assisting in the ongoing mental health and well-being of a community. This is fact, quantified by research, it is not some artsy-fartsy nonsense. The arts are not just an elective, they are essential, and involvement has tangible benefits for society and the individual. HT&E loves to entertain, but we also believe that part of our reason for being is to educate, to provoke thought, conversation, and examine important social issues, to involve young people in Workshops and performance, and to avail opportunities for novice performers and regional actors to build skills and stage time. The message is simple! Support theatre!
17.01.2022 HT&E has been recognised in an amazing book published on the history of theatre, along with some other amazing companies, colleagues, contemporaries and friends! It’s an incredible tribute to everyone involved with HT&E over 25 years, to be acknowledged in such a publication, which chronicles a rich and diverse theatre culture in Victoria! HT&E's founder and director Phillip A. Mayer was interviewed for the book and we're honoured to take our place among such wonderful theatr...ical stories! Written by one of the foremost and respected theatre historians and Melbourne personality Cheryl Threadgold, it’s an excellent publication tracking the diverse cultural impact and value of theatre on community and wider society! There are so many incredibly talented and dedicated cast, musicians and crew that have contributed to the HT&E story over time, but special mention to our Stage Manager Linden Hanley, Assistant Director Krissi Creighton & Technical Director John Reisinger for their decades of commitment to the company!
15.01.2022 Watching the Latrobe Iso 48 Hour Film Festival as an ensemble .. Stay tuned for our little film "Rona" .. Like and share :)
14.01.2022 No touring, no local performances, no metro shows, no kid’s workshops .. 2020 has been a huge challenge for live theatre and for local performers, but HT&E have continued to produce original material and engage our ensemble within the COVID rules! We’re excited to get back to the stage when we can, because there’s nothing like the atmosphere of live performance .. But we’re going to need the support of our amazing audiences! In the meantime, check out what we’ve been creating... online! Thanks to the Latrobe Valley Express for their support! 10.01.2022 What does HT&E do when we’re in physical isolation lock-down and can’t gather for our regular rehearsals? We get creative and adapt! Technology and social media are wonderful tools when used for good, and the ensemble have been getting together regularly to stay in contact! We can’t wait to get back to producing our irreverent brand of original theatre, but in the meantime we hope our audiences, supporters, friends and fellow theatre-makers are keeping safe and active within the limits of government directives
09.01.2022 Our new short film "The Mistake" Filmed before the current lockdown restrictions. Warning: MA contains strong language and adult themes.... Two uninvited guests get more than they bargained for after one critical mistake. The moral to the story - don't upset the Boss. Please share, comment, like or love (if you do) .. We appreciate getting our work out there, seeming we can't be in the theatre at the moment! You’ll find more HT&E projects on the YouTube channel. Phillip A. 09.01.2022 Another rehearsal and meeting via Zoom for the ensemble, keeping the connection and creativity flowing! Our new short film will drop this week, with other projects in the works! We can’t wait to get back on stage, but until opening curtains are allowed, we’re keeping busy, healthy, positive and with HT&E’s trademark inappropriate humour!
08.01.2022 Guess what the ensemble have been doing! We’re into rehearsals and in full swing preparations for our new dark comedy Love is a Warm Gun! It won’t be too long and we’ll be back in a theatre, back on stage and ready to evoke laughter and provoke conversations for audiences! The arts will need your support so stay tuned for show dates!
07.01.2022 An update for Youth Workshop parents, supporters and stars!
07.01.2022 HT&E's last rehearsal of "Love is a Warm Gun" before the lock down, applying some physical distancing - Our actors and team will be working in unified isolation, keeping the creative juices flowing, getting ready for when some semblance of normality returns to the world and we can bring audiences this entertaining piece of theatre! Be safe everyone, be kind, be mindful and be careful!
06.01.2022 What’s all this?! What are the HT&E team up to whilst isolated and away from the stage?! .. Someone is happy and someone, not so much! .. What’s with the rubber duck?! .. You’ll soon find out in our little project for the Latrobe Iso 48 Hour Film Festival! .. Watch this space for details
06.01.2022 So close and yet so far away! After months of restrictions, basically having live theatre crushed, and the industry stopped and decimated by the pandemic, we could finally see things getting better, there was hope we may be able to get back into a theatre, we'd started rehearsing a new comedy, and we had plans to restart the kid's Drama Workshops, but in a flash, the lights dropped, blackout, and we're back to stage 3 restrictions! It's obviously incredibly disappointing for ...our adult ensemble, for our crew, our loyal audiences and for our young Workshop stars - We're swinging the emotional character range between frustrated and sad, fearful and angry, but the bottom line is, we need to stay healthy, consider our family and friends, and protect the community! We will get through this and get back to the stage - We're determined, we're passionate about arts and culture, and having an outlet to express original stories, to reflect society, to make commentary about the world we live in, and giving opportunities to regional performers and young thespians, and we will rise again to create laughs and moments and fun and conversation for audiences when regulations allow! In the meantime, to all our supporters and friends, stay healthy, stay positive, keep your sense of humour, and if we all do the right thing, the lights will be back up and the curtain will be re-opening soon!

05.01.2022 Excellent to see the LNP supporting the Arts (read in sarcastic voice)! The Arts employs more people than the mining industry, and generates billions of dollars towards Australia’s GDP, if that’s how you assess contribution to society! Moreover, the Arts build society, community and education. The Arts not only entertain, but in all their facets, they enrich, inject culture, help to make sense of the world and generally make life more fulfilling!... But not according to the LNP and the ministers listed, who don’t think the Arts sector should be supported or valued! Do not vote for these social vandals again, and do not be fooled, duped and conned by their current socialist style stimulus, which does NOT include supporting artists - It’ll be business as usual at the end of this pandemic, and you’ll be paying the price! Thanks to Denise Devlin Brent for the original post and list.
05.01.2022 Traralgon Show! Book tix Now!
05.01.2022 To our dear audiences, fellow performers and theatre companies, community supporters and our own actors and crew .. The arts aren’t designed to socially distance; our aim is always to bring people together, to entertain, to provoke thought and applause and to build communities. Its community and our need to protect each other that’s forcing us apart physically right now, but we know and pledge that creative expression will thrive after this situation passes. HT&E will survive... this unprecedented period in our history, but now is the time to prioritise your health and welfare, and that of our artists, crew and the wider community. We haven’t cancelled any show dates as yet, but it’s looking more likely we will have to postpone and adjust dates for 2020 as more information and directives come to hand. This will affect The Gippsland Youth Drama Workshop and our adult comedy Love is a Warm Gun, which were both scheduled for June performances. We know how much our audiences were looking forward to these shows, and how excited our youth performers are to get on stage, and our adult ensemble’s enthusiasm, love and investment in our shows, and we all share the disappointment at this significant and extraordinary change in circumstances. We are determined to ensure HT&E remains an ongoing, vibrant and relevant theatre company, and want to return to normal programming as soon as possible, providing opportunities to local performers and rewarding our audiences with the original high-quality shows for which we are renowned. We’re planning for every contingency to ensure that no matter what, HT&E will continue to celebrate the performing arts. Creative expression is essential for a healthy society, and no matter what 2020 holds, together, we’ll get through this and be even stronger in 2021. The arts in all forms have always faced adversity, whether it be insufficient funding or a lack of bums-on-seats, but the arts continue to survive because of the passion, skills, talents, dreams and straight-up pig-headed desire to produce something worthwhile; something that sparks a response and brings people together to have conversations .. And wine! This is a challenging time for artists and arts organisations, who struggle financially at the best of times, so after this pandemic is over, go and see some local community theatre (or amateur, semi-professional whatever), go see an Aussie movie, or a local band, buy their merchandise and support live arts, because life without them would be pretty boring! A huge shout and thanks to all HT&E’s supporters You’re amazing and greatly appreciated!
05.01.2022 Guess what we’ve been up to! If your answer is creating another short film, you’re correct! The ensemble can’t hit the stage just yet, but we can certainly still create fun and engaging content! Stay tuned for The Mistake, another little story involving characters from our previous short The Slip!
04.01.2022 Love is a Warm Gun! 2020
03.01.2022 Mental health and awareness is a big part of why people are involved in theatre. Having social connections, friends to be creative with, being part of a group and a place to belong are all essential elements towards maintaining mental health. Here There & Everywhere support, encourage and advocate positive mental health by being an inclusive and supportive organisation, and providing opportunities for regional performers to get involved in theatre, irrelevant of their experie...nce or ability. The Gippsland Yourh Drama Workshop focuses on inclusiveness and the encouragement of expression without fear of judgment, and fosters young people’s confidence and self esteem. We can’t wait to get back to rehearsals, back to creating meaningful and entertaining shows and back into the theatre with audiences, to share and create wonderful moments. Until that time, if you need support don’t hesitate to reach out to an amazing organisation like Lifeline Gippsland. If you’ve ever considered getting involved in theatre, if you’re experienced or a novice, young or wiser, consider joining our welcoming, supportive and inclusive company.
