25.01.2022 A brilliant educational Ted-Ed video that talks about how to practice effectively. As Musicians we are always thinking about how we can get the most out of our practice time. The truth is: its not just how many hours we are practicing in practice sessions, but also how effective, specific, and focused this practice time is. All too often I see Music students become frustrated when they try and learn a new piece of music or technique and become dissatisfied with the amount of... mistakes they make, and consequently these feelings translate into their playing. As this creative video shows: the way we learn any skill is through repetition and playing very slow as to ensure we iron out potential mistakes. So.. next time you feel disheartened because you have been practicing over and over still cant play it - try practicing it really slow and focus on one step at a time. 13.01.2022 I found this to be a very well written advice about playing fast (this applies to all instruments!). We all want to play fast, but we have to learn to walk before we can run.
