24.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 1970 Ford XW Fairmont Sedan For a change in pace, we decided to fabricate a full stainless steel, mandrel bend exhaust for one of our personal cars. We fitted it out in a 2.5 inch diameter tube, with X pipe, V band clamps and all the way out the back using genuine exhaust hanger rubbers in their original positions. Using magnaflow mufflers, it has a beautiful sound and is quiet enough to hold conversations without the need to yell at each other while cruisin...g on the freeway. #ford #fairmont #magnaflowmufflers #xpipe #vbandclamp #mandrelbends #performance #knowledge #diagnosis #passion #mechanic #joboftheweek

23.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 2007 Mitsubishi NS Pajero 4x4 When this lovely gem came on the back of a tow truck, we didnt know what to expect. The customer called ahead to inform us that as he was driving, the engine just shut down and didnt want to start back up. After inspecting, we found it had snapped a timing chain. With a tear down of vertually all the bolt on components to gain access, we put a new chain in and checked the compression to make sure the extent didnt go any furth...er. Success!! Luckily in this instance, there was no piston to valve contact. After reassembling with new timing chain, timing chain guides, tensioner and camshaft gears, the car was back to peak performance, customer got their car back and everyone is over the moon again #mitsubishi #pajero #4m41 #diesel #timingchain #knowledge #diagnosis #passion #mechanic #joboftheweek

23.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 2001 Hyundai Elantra Hatch This week, we had a customer come in for a service and we found that their timing belt was due. After getting the go ahead, we organized a timing belt kit, changed the oil seals, idler and tensioner bearing as well as swap out the old belt with the new one. We had also found that the water pump was leaking onto the timing belt as well. Safe to say, the customer is very happy with how the vehicle is performing now that everything is... back in check!! #hyundai #elantra #timingbelt #periodicservicing #waterpump #knowledge #diagnosis #passion #mechanic #joboftheweek

21.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 2011 Holden VE Berlina Sedan This week, one of our lovely customers came in with her car because of an engine light on. We scanned the ecu and came up with an engine misfire. After inspecting, we found that a wiring connector had been broken at some stage and not making a good connection. After using a plastic zip tie to hold the connector together, the ecu light went out and the car was working at 100% once again.... #holden #ve #berlina #misfire #ziptie #knowledge #diagnosis #passion #mechanic #joboftheweek

21.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 1997 BMW 318is E36 Coup One of our long time customers came in requesting if we could help give them one of lifes luxurys with remote central locking on their vehicle. 21.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 1970 Ford XW Fairmont Sedan This week, we had a classic come in with a bad driveline vibration while driving above 65 km/h. We put it on the hoist and raised it up. We found that the rear tail shaft universal joint was shot. So we ordered two new universal joints for the front and rear of the tail shaft, took it out for a test drive and it was good as gold.... 21.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 1974 Ford F-100 Truck 4x2 This old beauty came in today with a gigantic water leak. When searching for the culprit, it was evident that the engine was a sieve. We found that all of the welch plugs (aka core or expansion plugs) were all corroded and leaking. We removed the engine to replace all of the plugs. It was no easy feat having to replace one behind the twin plate clutch, but we do have the knowledge and the correct tools to accomplish the end result. ...After replacing all of the welch plugs, we flushed all the old coolant and rust flakes out and replaced with fresh coolant. #ford #f100 #welchplug #twinplateclutch #coolant #knowledge #diagnosis #passion #mechanic #joboftheweek

21.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 2003 BMW 530i E60 Sedan The customer came in complaining about a water leak. After pressure testing the cooling system, we found that the water pump, thermostat and housing and radiator cap all had their individual problems causing the car to not hold coolant and over heat. Since replacing, the car started performing as it should with a heater that is needed in this cold Melbourne weather.... #bmw #530i #e60 #coldweather #coolingsystemfaults #knowledge #diagnosis #passion #mechanic #joboftheweek

20.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 1998 BMW 328i e36 Sedan Long time customer booked in one of their favourite cars this week and told us to service and check it out. After looking at it, we found the rear brakes had hit metal on metal and that it required rear brake pads, discs and the handbrake shoes had fallen apart inside the disc from someone driving with the handbrake on. We also found the fan belt was cracked and a globe in the taillight wasnt working. 19.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 2004 Mazda 3 Sedan A close friend of ours came in asking to check out why his car wasnt performing. After taking the car for a drive, we discovered that his clutch was slightly slipping causing the car not to drive at its full potential. 19.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 1986 Holden VL Berlina Turbo Sedan Ever since the customer acquired this stunning example of a vehicle, they’ve been wanting to put their own personal touches on the car to make it truely their own. It came in looking as if it was just bought from Holden back in 1986. We fitted big 20 inch walkinshaw wheels, lowered the suspension and even fitted an adjustable pan hard rod to make sure the wheel didn’t rub anywhere.... 18.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 1998 Nissan GU Patrol 4x4 We received a call early in the morning about a family on their way for a small getaway. They informed us that they had a bad water leak and were too far from home to turn around and go back. We told them to come and see how quick we can get them back on the road. As soon as they arrived, it was the water pump that had failed. Ordered a new assembly, flushed the old coolant out, refilled with fresh coolant mixed to the correct ratio... and by lunchtime, they were back on the road heading to their destination. They were extremely greatful at how fast we got them on the road and that they could still make their getaway. #nissan #patrol #4x4 #waterpump #summer #lstheworld #service #diagnosis #passion #mechanic #joboftheweek

18.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 2003 Mazda Tribute 4x4 SUV It’s funny how a simple little oil leak can wreak havoc on electrical components. Here we had a power steering pump and pressure line leak onto the alternator. The power steering pump sits in the uppermost position on the engine, which coated everything in oil. The oil then caused the alternator to overheat and burnt out the internal rectifier and flatten the battery. After replacing the power steering pump with a reconditioned uni...t, new power steering pressure hose and new alternator and washed all the oil residue away, the alternator charges the battery perfectly and the steering is light as a feather #mazda #tribute #oilleak #powersteering #alternator #v6 #performance #knowledge #diagnosis #passion #mechanic #joboftheweek

17.01.2022 Back at it again for another year. The holiday break was good for all of us here at H.Ts Service Centre, now to get back to business. Job of the Week!! 2005 Toyota Kluger 4x4 Station Wagon Customer came in with their oil light on, so we checked the oil pressure. It was extremely low and was also making a noise which sounded like cavitation.... We removed the sump and found a lot of oil ash from lack of servicing. 16.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 1995 Toyota Camry SV10R Sedan Customer came to us complaining about an oil leak and a water leak. After checking over the vehicle, we found the oil leak was the distributor oring that had gone hard and wasnt sealing any more. The water leaks were a little more difficult. One of the original steel barb fittings had rusted out and created a hole, which we replaced with a brass thread in replacement and one of the welch plugs had just created a pin hole. 13.01.2022 And thats a wrap for 2019! On behalf of all of us here at HTs Service Centre, wed love to wish all our customers a Merry Christmas and say thank you for the support this year. 13.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 2004 Holden TS Astra Hatch Our customer this week had a very peculiar fault. After the car would warm up to operating temperature, the engine would ping at idle. After running tests and using every tool we could to examine the engine, we got the okay from the owner to dive in deeper to confirm our findings and open the engine up.... We found that the head gasket had broken between cylinders 1 and 2, and also between cylinders 3 and 4. After discussing with the owner a variety of directions we can take to resolve the issue, they opted for a second hand engine. Which we set up as we do all our second hand engines. New timing seals, timing belt and as an extra, engine sump swap, with the oil pickup cleaned, to ensure perfect oil pressure. The owner was ecstatic with the performance of the new engine which they are now enjoying once again. #holden #astra #z18xe #secondhandengine #performance #knowledge #diagnosis #passion #mechanic #joboftheweek

11.01.2022 Job of the Year This car was purchased by us but was missing some pieces and needing to be put back together after not seeing the road since 1990. We got the body all sorted, missing pieces found and installed and all the mechanics and brakes checked over and made to work as they should. The finished product speaks for itself and behaves as it was intended, a street car that can be driven with the family without hassles.

08.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 2002 Holden VY Commodore S Sedan When the vehicle arrived on the back of the tow truck, the customer informed us that it wasnt selecting gears. Also, when the car was running, there was a lot of foreign noise coming from under the vehicle. We immediately removed the gearbox to find a clutch friction disc that had thrown the damper springs and worn friction material. We installed a completely new single mass flywheel and clutch from exedy, as the original in... the car was of a lesser quality and parts were going to be a lot more expensive to find that would fit. The response from the customer is that the clutch feel has never been better, he can select gears now and there are no more noises. 08.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 1987 Ford XF Falcon Sedan This week, our customer decided to bring in their pride and joy. They had been having issues starting the engine with a disastrous grinding noise as well as a service. We found that the starter motor had started to grind down the flexplate teeth and damage the starter motor pinion teeth. While the transmission was out to replace the flexplate, we also found the rear main seal was starting to leak too. To save money in the long term,... the customer agreed to change the seal while we were at that stage. With the service, we found that both front lower ball joints had excessive play in them, causing the tyres to wear prematurely. We rotated and balanced the tyres and got the wheel alignment checked to make sure everything was where it should be. Upon completion, the car started fantastic and drove like a dream. 06.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 2000 Nissan N16 Pulsar Sedan A couple of weeks ago, a customer came in with a performance fault. The engine would tremble on cold start, as the engine got to operating temperature, it would slightly go away but could still be felt. Also while driving, the engine would labor and not accelerate as it should. We diagnosed the fault as a head gasket problem. As they didnt have the money at the time, we advised them to let us know when they could afford to have ...it repaired. They gave us a call this week and booked it in. After removing the head, we found we were correct. The gasket had split between cylinders 1 and 2. Creating a cylinder pressure problem and causing the engine not to perform. After reassembling with new gaskets and torquing everything to specification, the engine runs smooth as a button. #nissan #n16 #pulsar #headgasket #performance #knowledge #diagnosis #passion #mechanic #joboftheweek

06.01.2022 Job of the Week!! 2010 Holden VE Calais Sedan We all have that one task that pushes our vocabulary to the next level. And this week was no different with a thermostat that was leaking, as well as a jamming which was causing the engine to overheat and lock in ecu fault codes. You may ask, how hard can a thermostat be?? Well, normally, very easy, but on the Holden V6 Alloytec engine, which is located at the rear of the engine block with limited space for parties, it gets very h...ard very easily.
