09.01.2022 Need help getting that website up and running? Give me a call. I am happy to help on small or large projects.

06.01.2022 So you have started a WordPress website. You feel out of your depth? Do you feel like my picture? Cramped into a rattling Rikshaw - barreling down the streets of Kathmandu in the rain - up on two wheels turning into narrow side streets - just waiting for it to come to a sticky end? No dont worry. That was me! I did survive..haha!! It is just that you are still learning. There is so much you want to to do and know but are still finding your way. Believe me nobody knows it a...ll. Just work on the things that allow you to achieve what you want to do. Focus on regularly adding a blog Post. Keep the flow going. You will learn more working on your site being productive. Dont try to master everything at the expense of adding new material for your followers. Baby steps guys. Really,do you want a blog that is technically perfect? or a blog that is dynamic with growing followers? The latter is where you need your brainspace. The rest will follow. See more

04.01.2022 Page load times are an important part of making your site a pleasant experience for your visitors. If it loads to slow you lose them immediately. There are many forums and Facebook groups looking for solutions to this issue. If you have followed best practice you will have learned to keep images optimized, to use minify and caching etc. Before you make further wholesale changes to your site do a speedtest and save the results. I revisited one of my sites i have been remiss in... updating today. I ran the speedtest prior to getting to work and was somewhat shocked at the result. While the Pagespeed and Yslow scores were not totally bad, the load time - page size - and number of requests were well above what i remember. Looking at the Waterfall chart I quickly saw there were 70 requests to Facebook. Each only milliseconds but they soon add up. Knowing Facebook was the external link I knew it was due to social media like or share buttons or something similar. I have Woocommerce on this site and was aware i had a Facebook to Woocommerce extension in my plugins. This would be the easiest to test by just deactivating the plugin. Which I did. I then ran another Speedtest to gauge what impact it had. This result can be seen in the lower image. Immediately I almost halved the load time, dropped the request by 70 and reduce load size by 1.143mb. Thats huge! Obviously I will rethink how to best take advantage of Facebooks power and audience by other methods. If you have a similar configuration or use this plugin, I would recommend revisiting a speedtest and waterfall chart to see if you are suffering the same damage. If you have any similar stories, feel free to comment here. See more
