24.01.2022 Just the beginning baby!! So.... this is JUST the prep! How bloody awesome does our client look already?? 3x customised Enzyme Therapy plus prescribed home care. If you have a look you’ll see some breakouts happening - and this is SOOO normal. When we begin to increase water levels and push the stagnant oil up to the surface where it belongs and makes for a nice barrier - those little impactions that have been trapped for ages will finally be set free ... 24.01.2022 #IWD2021 Wowser! I’m constantly reminded of all the strong, resilient, vulnerable, genuine and passionate women I have around me and I’m so grateful. My team, both past and present (and those not present in this picture), inspire me and teach me things on a daily basis. ... The incredible female business owners and entrepreneurs I’ve been fortunate to meet on my journey - who have been through the toughest year in history but still get up every day to make a difference. Who commit to looking after their people and their families, often a great emotional and physical cost. The beautiful female friends I have in my life who don’t care if I take a week to reply to messages - but love and support me anyway (and occasionally tell me to get a grip!). You are all beautiful and much much appreciated for who you are and what you do. Always remember, not just today, that you matter. I can’t believe it’s been a year since my beautiful friend and all of the wonderful things above, Jasmine Alexa and I organised the #LetsTalk2020 brunch and spent the day with some amazing women talking openly about mental health, highs and lows in business and so much more. 23.01.2022 BOOM There it is The reason we DO what we do and LOVE what we do. Not a day goes by without us being so so grateful for our beautiful clients’ trust, commitment and patience! And yes, sometimes it does take time... we WISH it was a 4 week process. But for conditions that have existed for years, it will take months! Sometimes a year... All the while being committed to challenging the skin and at times being uncomfortable in the process. We pushed this beauty’s skin quite a bit during some of the alkalines we did - and it definitely wasn’t comfortable - or look good (definitely plan these treatments) for a few days! But looking at her confidence and big smile now, we’re BEYOND ecstatic! And so is she - and mum and dad! #wechangelives

18.01.2022 Ehhhhj... it’s a hard no peeps! #skincaremyth Let’s talk about post treatment breakouts. Because they DO happen. Trust us, we know it’s annoying. So if you are brand new to treatments and want one just to freshen up before your wedding or a big event - don’t. Stick to something simple like LED. ... But if you’ve got time - or you’re on a journey to improve your skin - a whole different story! This is why. Most of us have bits of congestion, or micro comedones, lurking under the surface of the skin. Or a nice collection of dead cells. When you have a treatment, activity happens (the aim of the game right?). The result is increased hydration and increased desquamation (basically the sloughing of dead sticky cells that are clumped together). When water is increased or cell turnover sped up, as we do in our treatments (which is also why they WORK!) this process kickstarts. But because your skin needs a bit of extra help removing those sticky cells, it might take a few treatments to normalise. This can be helped between treatments by using Micro Peel and Acu Mask/ Hydration Mask OR your Home Enzyme Mask 3 days post your clinical treatment. And if you get breakouts post treatment, remember NO facial treatment can GIVE you acne. They were there, just sitting pretty under the skin, waiting for the right time to pop out. Better out than in peeps! So when we actually get damn excited when you’re breaking out it’s not because we don’t like you (promise!) it’s because we’re seeing PROGRESS. CELEBRATE the process. BUT, reflecting on the year that’s been I hope you find the golden nuggets of gratitude that come along with a once in a lifetime event like a pandemic...(I mean, who would have bloody thought???). ... 14.01.2022 This. Crew. So much to celebrate 2020 has been a year thats challenged us like no other. And even though we’re quite happy to say buh bye to 2020 we’ve also got lots of things to celebrate ... 2020 was the year that brought us closer together, brought perspective, and also new ways to grow. So tonight as we celebrated our Christmas party it was a sweet way to say Thank You for the year it’s been. I heard this phrase today in a podcast, which I loved: we went from being a ‘we-know-it-all business’ to a ‘we-learn-it-all business. And I thought it was a fantastic thought. We are a business and a team who embraces challenges and keep learning - even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard. And for this, I’m so in love with my team and and what we’ve built. Can’t wait for 2021!!

11.01.2022 Yeah..... um.....nope! We don’t buy it So oily skin or not, unless you’re 5 and your skin just works the way nature intended when you were born - you NEED to moisturise. Oily OR lipid dry skin. People born with oily skin will become drier and drier with age, as hormones change. And let’s not forget that the barrier function for most of the population becomes compromised due to over exfoliation, using those salicylic toner pads - you know the one...s.... and gosh knows what else people do to their skin. Soap? Oil cleansers? Super super daily foamy cleansers with AHA’s? Because it feels nice and tight right? Well here’s the thing, using those things to make your skin less oily means your skin’s PH changes to become more alkaline - which means your skin feels more oily - which means you use more scrubs, AHA’s etc. And ditching the moisturiser. Its a vicious cycle my friends. Instead, try a moisturiser correctly prescribed for YOU. 10.01.2022 Want to know if collagen induction (a.k.a needling) works? Oh yes it does!! Refined texture, less visible scarring, volume, reduction in lines... Needling isn’t a once off treatment. And it takes time to see the full result. You see, the treatment itself sets off a wound healing cascade. And in this process, growth factors are released and fresh new collagen laid down to bridge the gap between all the little micro channels we create. ... 06.01.2022 To Pop or Not To Pop I used to have acne. Like - for 10 long years... And the amount of times I had a field day popping my pimples - I can’t even count! So even after I’d gotten treatments for over a year, and been super diligent with skincare , I still had soooo many marks left behind. Like little (or not so little to be honest!) reminders of my excavation skills. Proud moments, I know. ... So then I learnt what happens when you squeeze a pimple at home. Let’s just say, due to more often than not, a shit poor technique, the inflammation gets worse, bacteria spreads to surrounding tissue - and the follicle walls rupture and leave a nice little (or big!) mark. So don’t do it! They’re called macules btw. They’re red, sometimes purple/ brown spots - often called post inflammatory hyper pigmentation as well. But that term is a bit mis leading. Because it’s not just pigment there. It can be vascular trauma as well. From where the pressure has been applied - or where inflammation was present. Ps! We’ve had clients who have given themselves staph infections from squeezing their pimples And yes, that means antibiotics - and maybe a hospital visit... So don’t do it! If you’re a client of ours undergoing a treatment series and you’re experiencing breakouts, did you know that you can come in for a free quick 15min zap with our high frequency device in between treatments? Yep. You can. We can also perform extractions once your skin is ready for it during your treatments. We just always make sure we do things in the right order - increase water first (so congestion pops up to the surface), increase EFA intake (so the sebum gets thinner and can be extracted more easily). 06.01.2022 A million thank you’s It’s been a VERY long year since Rona made its way. And I’m sure you’ve noticed we’ve been a little more quiet on socials lately. Well here’s the thing, Rona for a business owner (and for many others!) meant 18 hour work days so we could look after all our amazing, beautiful, loyal, smart, funny, skin obsessed clients as best we could. ... AND try to support our teams - and whoever in our industry needed help in between. Which meant a bit of burnout. And let’s face it, we’ve covered EVERYTHING on socials during covid..... Not to mention we lost some absolutely incredible members of our hüd fam because of circumstances due to (bloody) covid. Which meant things have been even more challenging (we MISS them so much).... So my beautiful team allowing me to have a break - and @ellylukas.college forcing me to go, is such a special thing. I know we all take things for granted, and I’m sure many think owning your own business you can just take off on a private jet whenever you want - but reality is, when you CARE, you can’t (and I mean, that jet is somehow still not in my hangar... ). So as I’m laying here by the pool relaxing and recharging I want to do a huuuuuuuuge shoutout to my beautiful team of HÜDstars who work with passion, care and purpose. It never goes unnoticed. 05.01.2022 Beautiful skin by us Let’s talk vascular treatments. And conditions.... Redness has MANY causes. Soooo many. It could be an impaired barrier, allergies, rosacea, ageing (sorry, yes it true - we get more vascular as we age ). It could even be caused by medications, a new carpet or a new car - or it can simply be a hereditary thing. ... Either way, we can help. It comes down to the correct diagnosis by a clinician who thinks about causes, not just the effects - and it means working together to figure out what’s causing the skin to send out these SOS vibes So often we hear oh we can just zap those with laser or ipl. And that’s the end of it. Well, we DID zap these with laser - our medical grade Cutera Laser. And it was very successful. I mean, look at that beautiful result. BUT.... it DOES require upkeep. Regular (6 weekly) Enzyme Therapy is needed to keep the skin oxygenated so new capillary network doesn’t need to grow. Sometimes we’ll recommend needling (with full blood response) to strengthen the capillary walls. Sometimes we’ll recommend using your Home Enzyme kit or Red Vein.
