We love the energy men bring to Pilates Suffice it to say we have all shapes & sizes of men currently attending at Hudson Barry... from the Littles (the boys) to the Bigs (the men). Rolling has you working the abdominals while opening up the spine (and massaging it while rolling) also working balance and control along the way one leg stretch you continue to work the abdominals while reaching strongly from the centre (opening the hip) one leg at a time double leg stretch, now youre sendin...g both legs out & the arms in the opposite direction keeping the abs working and the back in a long curve, thIs is the ultimate 2 way stretch from a strong center! then sitting and continue to stretch the back of the legs and the spine as you continue to pull the abdominals in strongly & use the breath to open up the back of the rib cage for a beautiful stretch with lots of energy and control. Keep you heels on the ground and the back of the neck long. Sit tall, curl and reach forward then return through the curl to sit tall again! 19.01.2022 Leg circles these babies work like magic for legs, Im telling you! Sculpting strong legs and challenging the powerhouse. Snap. Anchor everything strongly to the ground while you lift and reach one leg, circle across the body, down towards the floor and pull up, reasonably vigorously (dont rush this part), do 5 in one direction and 5 in reverse with control between each rep. Free the hip and liberate the movement via the strength of your resistance into the floor! T...he control and focus of energies in two opposing directions will help with your push up finale in the mat sequence! 17.01.2022 From the leg pull we tuck a knee back under and #sidekick again loaded through the arm and stable through the trunk....challenging the center with a sweeping leg. Then extending the bent leg we lift the waist high and take a beautiful side stretch with a #sidebend (watch the video theres a little work within that side bend ) then we get all #Aussie and we #boomerang pilates style! The middle pic and the bottom 2 pics give a sneak peak of this one. One picture does not tell... the whole story. 17.01.2022 U P S I D E down can be a very daunting position for many people! Especially if it wasn’t part of their childhood! I absolutely LOVE helping people do things they never thought they’d be able to do! ... Rather spontaneously, this mornings session with a newish client and two very new clients turned into a handstand workshop at the end! No one saw it coming, we just went there.... we’d spent a lot of the tower session immersed in teachable moments about how to connect the arms into the back & working both sets of ass cheeks at the back of the body (as I’m renowned to talk about) aka the glutes and the lats this is what I call the posterior BIG X and it’s required for better power and control. We also talked about and demonstrated the true meaning of the two way stretch from a strong center and how to zip it all up to the LITTLE x. (Oh there’s so much to talk about when it comes to the little x ) So when Julie asked about the high barrel & I talked about my love of getting upside down... we took the plunge and went there! A handstand finale was in fact the perfect demonstration of what they’d learned & why they needed to bring it all together, to stand tall even when you’re upside down! It was the perfect culmination of everything we were working on during our session. NB: These women are not athletes, simply committed to their wellness journey and brave enough to give it a go with a little helping hand! They got it! I’m so proud of these women. I repeat. 16.01.2022 Its getting HOT in here.... when you actually do the whole matwork (like I pretty much did when I filmed this one) you are most definitely sweating! This is sped up (1.5) & my form isnt superb on my return, but you are totally spent by the time you reach the #pushup Its a workout for sure & its totally worth it every exercise along the way is prepping you, priming the mind and body for this finale. We engage, we circulate energy and breathe, we focus, we flow, we ...push and we pull. 15.01.2022 Hey Mothers! Yes you!! I want you to know I got you. Ive been at this motherhood game now for 26 + years (Imma count from conception so lets , make that almost 27 years!)... I know ALL the feels, from the sheer joy and elation to the fears and frustrations. Ive been there & Im still there. In it deep. Determined to be as present as I can, to laugh & cry with them, roar like the lioness when I need to, ready to scoop my cubs into my arms to protect them or push them out of their comfort zone. Whatever they need. Whats my GOLDEN lesson in amongst it all? That we are POWERFUL creatures and we need to recognize it, live it, love it and take care of ourselves so we can radiate that power to those we love. Our cubs, our whole pride. Mummas we NEED to be strong. We NEED to take care of ourselves and this my Dears is not always easy. Why? Because we get so damn busy, its just SO easy not to do it. I WANT you to promise me, youll aim for at least 3 minutes a day! It will pay off. I can still do all the things I do NOT because I do long workouts regularly...I absolutely dont! What I DO though, is small amounts often, with focus, intention and joy. Yes when you create a moment to yourself, SOAK IT UP!! Fill up your bucket! In 3 minutes you CAN feel better. Better because you moved! Better because you breathed deeply and increased your frequency feeling more alive Better because you did what you said youd do for yourself! Better because you loved your body and told her so while you moved her (and the movements can be so simple and at the level where youre at. I can show you how). Better because you filled yourself back up so youll have more to give your cubs no matter how big or little they are! Trust me, you cant wait until youve done all your other *things* or wait until youve got a sitter or theyre in school, or theyre out of school or... whatever else is tempting to tell yourself... 15.01.2022 Our year 12 students are suffering and the restrictions on the ability to participate in their graduation mass is suffocating them! Its not logical. Let them have their graduation mass & sing. The boys Ive spoken to dont even care about the formal, they want their mass and to be able to sing together! ... Let them rise up @gladysb .... lift the restrictions for rituals and ceremonies at school! My son (year 7 in this pic) and his mates have watched every year 12 graduation in awe and with excitement, waiting for their turn to be celebrated and honoured and lifted up on the wings of the whole school! Theyve been waiting for their right of passage, to sing their traditional latin hymn Sub tuum at the graduation mass (youve never heard anything quite like it) to sing together with love in their hearts, to feel connected to each other, connected to something bigger. Anybody that has ever attended will tell you how incredibly powerful this ceremony is (goose bump stuff) and its IMPORTANT to the wellbeing of their hearts and minds! These rights of passage are critical for our youth, our young men in particular. They need us to stand up for them right now! The current restrictions are suffocating their spirit and breaking their hearts. This can be changed Gladys Think about it and weigh up the consequences of these restrictions on the hearts and minds of our youth! Its not logical. Them singing together will not burden the hospitals! Theyre not gathering with anyone theyre not already gathering with!! Please make this stop. Our young men are counting on it. Theyre feeling hopeless and unimportant, all this work and now nothing to look forward to. Staying in school wasnt about grades for many of them, its about connection and the rites of passage into manhood provided by this connection and community. For ALL year 12 students, not just the young men of St Gregorys. Lift the restrictions on graduation masses and singing in term 3!! Before their HSC. Let them rise! Let them breathe a sigh of relief. Let them sing and lift each other up! The exams matter little, their expanded hearts mean everything

Stay centered noticing whether you shift or short on one side and resist compressing or collapsing through the body. 06.01.2022 Left to Right day 9-12 #Marchmatness #rockerwithopenlegs #corckscrew #saw #swandive with these 4 sequenced we find ourselves rolling again but this time with legs extended and much more control required (keep your SEAT active!) the we start rotating the spine, its like squeezing all the juice out of the grapes! First with corkscrew as we rotate the spine to take the legs over to the side then away & around to the other side & back to the middle (with a little ...or big lift at the centre depending on your ability) keep the legs energized and glued together, keeping abdominals on and shoulders / arms active into the floor to help stabilize. Then we sit and rotate and reach for saw, a beautiful twist and a challenge for those tight through the back of the body.
