24.01.2022 Brad's very cool HQ Statesman has been in recently for some upgrades. It didn't run too well, most certainly didn't stop well... Purrs like a kitten now, stops extremely well, doesn't over heat now and some safety issues are sorted.... One very cool old car

23.01.2022 Kev picked his shortened BTR diff up yesterday for his boosted Barra powered Mk II Zephyr. Hope the "Fancy Commodore" made it home and he didn't have to put the mud flap on and walk

21.01.2022 The previously modified Salisbury diff that was bent is now straight and 4" shorter to suit its new wheels. It's also running modified VN-VS Commodore axles to suit the early Holden stud pattern. We don't actually have a jig to suit Salisbury housings, so shortening was a bit of a challenge, but the truing bar reckons we did OK

21.01.2022 Steve's Big Block Chevy came back on a tow truck first thing Monday morning billowing smoke from the exhaust. Not a good thing, as it was only completely rebuilt the week before A catch can in the transmission vacuum modulator line confirmed a failed modulator was the issue. When the diaphragm fails, intake manifold vacuum draws oil from the transmission directly into the engine, resulting in copious amounts of white exhaust smoke.... It's easy to diagnose, but very hard to try and explain to someone who has just had their engine rebuilt, that all that smoke is actually because of the transmission, not the engine that WE rebuilt (especially over the phone without even having seen it ) In no time at all, this Chevy Big Block managed to draw 2 litres of oil from the transmission directly into the engine.

20.01.2022 A very good friend and great guy to work with, built this stunning HK in his shed at home. Monty has taught me a lot about drag car chassis and will ALWAYS stop what he's doing to answer my calls and stupid questions. I had the pleasure of working with Monty for a while and learnt a lot. (quickly learnt he's a cranky old c### ) Best chassis builder (drag car) in the country in my opinion. Record holding Dragster, PRO Street, Supercharged Outlaws, T/A Funny Car, Top Doorslam...mer, Top Bike and burnout car chassis and frames to his name (hope I didn't miss any Monzo ) Also 20+ year Willowbank Track record holder as a driver Monty's OCD has certainly kicked in with his current build and will be an awesome piece of engineering once completed. EDIT: Sorry Monzo, 33+ year record https://www.willowbankraceway.com.au/news/detail.aspx

19.01.2022 Supercharger restraints. They do have a purpose.........

19.01.2022 Steve's Big Block Chevy Impala is all new again 460ci of cruisability

18.01.2022 It was a HK, HT & HG kind of day on Thursday Might be a little bit biased here but...... BEST SERIES OF GMH EVER BUILT

17.01.2022 This is a first for me. I never knew Sydney Speed Supplies/Procomp/Speedmaster79 or whatever other name they trade as now, made carburettors. Check out the quality of this thing. Throttle doesn't return, accelerator pump linkages are horrid, the finish on those boosters........ I pity the poor buggar who has to tune it. It'll take nothing short of a miracle to make this thing work. Overall the quality of this carburettor isn't bad, it's fkn terrible! (even the box isn't worth keeping to store junk in)

16.01.2022 Salisbury diff converted to suit HK/T/G Holden in for shortening. Looks like it could do with some straightening first....

16.01.2022 "My water pump is noisy. I think it needs replacing. Doesn't get hot but."

15.01.2022 It's not very often that a plastic bumpered car is posted on this page, for a good reason But Jenny's Fairlane is in pristine condition. These crappy photos don't do it any justice. At almost 1/4 of a century old, this Fairlane has just clicked over 90k on the odometer. The plastic cover mats are still protecting the protective floor mats ... The paint is pristine and VERY well waxed. The 5.0L purrs perfectly with the original exhaust all still in place. The only modifications to this old Fairlane is a tow bar and heavy rear springs to pull Jenny's caravan a couple of times a year. With so many of these plastic bumpered cars stripped out as a drive line donors, it's good to see some low mileage cars sneak through. They might not be a cool old car yet, but the kids of today might just have a few cool old cars to enjoy in the future. (they'll never really be cool, but the kids will think they're cool )

14.01.2022 Every summer race meeting

12.01.2022 Never miss that photo opportunity. Even when your race car explodes into a million pieces, wave to the photographer. #racecarpilot ... #notasoccerplayer

12.01.2022 If you have done yourself a little mischief while fixing your Holley or Barry Grant carburettor, drop in and we can sort those 7/32" thread repairs for you. Don't be like the other shops around here that tap them out to 1/4" and charge a premium price, fix it properly

11.01.2022 HG Premier in recently for a diff chop. Mark bought some new wheels which had a zero offset. The diff fitted was a little wider than factory making the new track even wider. It's now 4" narrower and the wheels are tucked in nicely. It's coming back soon for a height adjustment. Last pic is before the chop.

11.01.2022 Trevor and Rhonda bought their beautiful HT GTS in this week with a boot full of new ignition components. It hasn't run well for the last 8 years and arrived on a tow truck. With a carburettor overhaul, alternator upgrade and the new ignition system graphed to suit the Saginaw 4 speed, this old GTS runs really well now Happy cruising guys.

11.01.2022 Marian's very tidy '58 XK150 Jaguar was in this week for some issues to be sorted. Clutch issues, drive shaft issues, major oil leaks (didn't worry about the regular Jag oil leaks, the ones that can never be stopped, simply because they're a Jag) and then those SU carburettors with that electronic power enrichment/choke assembly between the two carbs Carburettors are now sorted and Marian's extremely happy. I think it could be better with ignition mods, but Jaguar + SU car...burettors + Lucas distributor in the one week, no thanks A very cool old car, just not very cool to problem solve and repair......

11.01.2022 Diesel/Petrol hybrid towed in today for a fuel system flush. Runs great now on 100% diesel If anyone is after 80/20% unleaded to diesel mix weed killer, we have 60L of it ... Only had 670km on the odometer.

10.01.2022 How to explain the transmission of COVID 19 to a mechanic. One socket in the toolbox has a small amount of Anti Sieze on it. By the end of the day, how many tools are covered in it?

10.01.2022 J bought his tunnel rammed 308 in for a tune earlier this month. He explained his engine, transmission, differential and intake system before we saw it. I explained to him, before seeing it, it isn't going to be perfect. It's not a good combination.... Then it arrived and the 4 speed stick shifted transmission was a Super T10, the WORST transmission EVER, for a large cammed engine The camshaft doesn't start making power until 3000+ RPM. The engine is just over 300ci (tiny...) with 900CFM of carburettors (MASSIVE) a tunnel ram and the diff ratio makes this a 70mph+ car in low gear. Sure, we can tune something that runs with from idle to 70mph in 1st gear to be streetable....... It's far from perfect, but it is fun to drive J seems pretty happy with it too .

09.01.2022 If 2020 was a camshaft bearing, this would be it. Have been waiting for months for these bearings to come into the country. When they finally do, they're the shape of an egg. Thankfully, this year is nearly done

06.01.2022 Sorry kids, Christmas is cancelled. Santa's Falcon has shit itself again

04.01.2022 Couple of generations in these photos. #oldcarsarecools

03.01.2022 2003 Nationals at Willowbank. I still remember that stack Deb had in the Monaro against Call's Torana. (7:45 minutes into video) That little Torana didn't always go down the track as planned. When it did, it was quick and fast. When it didn't, it was spectacular ... And as always, Wedlock and Ridgeway in the Pro Stock final https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=_JUJ3GnIY8k

03.01.2022 Kev's 78 series BTR diff from a BF Falcon shortened just under 300mm to suit his MKII Zephyr. We have a 31 spline Truetrac centre here for it and rear support hat. Hopefully it'll hit the track not too late into next year and be sorted for Streetmachine Drag Challenge.

02.01.2022 Quite often find nasty surprises in transmission pans, but finding something that used to be alive is new

02.01.2022 New track, new surface. Bring on some new national records in 2021 #fck2020

02.01.2022 Another day, another engine full of Procomp crap. The roller to valve tip geometry is crap, but how good is that rocker arm to retainer clearance

01.01.2022 One the last of the Aussie Ute's was in recently for some maintenance. Generally plastic bumpered cars are a no go here, but Brad also has a couple of other cool cars too. So this one snuck in.

01.01.2022 Blue has been popular this week. Jake's tuff as nails HT GTS and Jeff's beautiful XY GTHO tribute. And that Sunshine Coast spring sky
