20.01.2022 I am sure many of you have taken an interest in 'Making a Killing' aired on Four Corners on Monday night. This insight into the sordid world of greyhound racing and the evil practice of live baiting was some shockingly distressing material. Though, as disheartening as these revelations are, there is indeed a silver lining to be had here. The fact that Animal Liberation Queensland and Animals Australia achieved nation wide scrutiny (& outrage!) regarding this animal cruelty is...sue is inspirational. Wherever there is scrutiny there is potential for change. If you have not had the chance already take a #crueltyfree moment to sign the petition to end live baiting. 15.01.2022 Countless animals are maimed and die in cosmetic testing each year. Countless is a scary word isn't it? Exact figures are hard to come by as animals such as rodents and amphibians are not covered by animal welfare acts in many parts of the world, thus their deaths are not officially documented. We are talking thousands of senseless deaths in some countries and millions in others. Unnecessary deaths in light of the many cost effective alternatives to animal testing. Even if th...ere were no alternatives it is absurd & arrogant to think a slash of lipstick or a swipe of blush is worth the abuse and suffering of innocent creatures. Say no to brands that test - suffering is never sexy and boy are these brands tainted by suffering. Instead, opt for beauty brands that are made the ethical way. They will look just as pretty in the wearing and are far, far prettier in the making. Go on, hug bunnies (and mice, rats, guinea pigs...) and reject those that harm them. This is true beauty. If we keep on saying a big old NO to brands that test, consumer demand will win the day! Yes, it is a shame that it comes down to the buck for big brands. Since their priority is $ over integrity regarding our friends from other species, the best way to end testing is to refuse to put your hard earned cash towards brands that perpetuate suffering.
