21.01.2022 The wild weather last night saw 7 boats ashore. A couple simply dragged their mooring whilst others had chaffed bow lines. Can all mooring owners check their b...ow fittings, headlines and make sure ground tackle is sufficient for a decent blow. This makes over 30 boats ashore in a couple of weeks Drifting boats can do loads of damage to those that are secure and looked after. Hop onto the MAST website and contact a mooring service provider and arrange a service and inspection

18.01.2022 A 72 year old man from Tunnack is lucky to be alive after his boat overturned boat at Dolphin Sands today. At about 1:30pm today police were alerted to the boat... in danger in Great Oyster Bay by a nearby resident. Three men were fishing in a 5 metre fibreglass boat when it got caught in the surf and flipped. Two men were thrown from the boat, and a third man was trapped underneath. The man was trapped for 30 minutes when police officers broke through the bottom of the boat with a hand tool and pulled him to safety. He was treated on scene for exposure to gases and inhaling water and has been transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in a stable condition, with no life threatening injuries. The other two men were assessed by ambulance officers at the scene and have no physical injuries. Career and volunteer firefighters from Tasmania Fire Service, and volunteers from Ambulance Tasmania, SES and Swansea Surf Life Saving were also on scene rendering assistance.
