24.01.2022 Achieving is very different than doing, but we often confuse the two. "To become an achiever rather than a doer, for everything in front of you, you must ask yourself not only "What difference will this make?" but also "Why does that difference matter?" You must quiet your ego and consider others as much as yourself." So, are you a doer or an achiever?

23.01.2022 Heard of #verticaldevelopment? "Vertical development is about expanding your mindset changing the way you think and behave. In vertical development, you pay attention to becoming more adaptable, more self-aware, more collaborative and able to span boundaries and networks." Is your organisation investing in vertical development to prepare for our ever complex world? Well it should! The first step is understanding what it is (as compared to horizontal development) and why it is more relevant than ever in today's world. https://buff.ly/2OOxi5s

23.01.2022 Helping, fixing, and serving represent three different ways of seeing life. When you help, you see life as weak. when you fix, you see life as broken. When you serve, you see life as whole. Fixing and helping may be the work of the ego, and service the work of the soul. Rachel Naomi Remen

20.01.2022 Two great anecdotes about leaders who make the time for small gestures, with big impact. "Small gestureswhether signage or speech, body language or handwritten messagescan send big signals about who we are, what we care about, and why we do what we do." What small gestures do you enact as a leader to let your people know that you care about them?

20.01.2022 Read our latest blog in the Transformational Change blog series. Incremental change can be your best friend in creating healthy, sustainable change in organisations. As goal setting experts often share, it's about "starting small, doing it everyday, and making it easy!" #transformation #change #culture #leadership #complexity cremental-change/

19.01.2022 "Let go of certainty. The opposite isn’t uncertainty. It’s openness, curiosity and a willingness to embrace paradox, rather than choose up sides. The ultimate challenge is to accept ourselves exactly as we are, but never stop trying to learn and grow." Tony Schwartz We hear a lot about the buzz word, VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous). Most organisations are slowly realising that we live in a VUCA world. That means that our old ways of doing things fundamentally need to change. The one big step we must take towards making that change is embracing uncertainty. Are you prepared to let go? #OD #organisationdevelopment #complexity #leadership #transformationalchange #change #development

19.01.2022 Our latest newsletter shares info about the events happening this month, blogs we're posting, and articles we're reading that inspire us to be better leaders. We hope it's inspiring to you too! https://buff.ly/2Tfytwn

18.01.2022 How "safe" is your workplace culture? Do people feel empowered to speak up, share their ideas, and bring their whole selves to the workplace? Research shows that it takes more energy to try to be something you're not rather than just be who you are. I the modern work era, we need to redefine workplace safety and make it a key part of our culture. #culture #inclusion #diversity #leadership

15.01.2022 Many people have been sharing their experience of "virtual collboration overload". It's a real thing! This quote in the article captured it well: It’s easier being in each other’s presence, or in each other’s absence, than in the constant presence of each other’s absence. Read on for some ways to stay balanced and connected. The one I strive for, having been on zoom calls for the past 2 years, is to resist the temptation of multi-tasking and really tune into the person front and centre, the one who is speaking and sharing. Let us not be in the "constant presence of each other's absence" by being intentional with our attention!

15.01.2022 Love the work of Michael Singer. If you haven't read his books "The Untethered Soul" and "The Surrender Experiment" perhaps now is the time. He offers a free interview on SoundsTrue this month on Resilience in Challenging Times. We can all learn how to thrive during these times by tuning into ourselves and our more spiritual nature. https://buff.ly/3e5Usz7

15.01.2022 As the world continues to witness the conversation around diversity, equity, and inclusion happening in the USA and #BLM, we as global citizens and fellow humans have an opportunity to engage in the conversation and make sense of what it means for us to take action towards building more equity and inclusion in our workplaces and communities. Join Humans Who Lead in collaboration with Matrix Leadership Institute for a virtual dialogue with Gerald Boyd on "Dismantling Systemic Racism - Together". We will host two separate sessions on 22 July and 5 Aug 6:30-8:30pm EST (23 July and 6 August from 8:30-10:30am Sydney time). We hope you will join us for this very important first step towards more equity in the world. For more information and to register: https://buff.ly/2CHeNfT #BLM #diversity #equity #inclusion

13.01.2022 "Women in leadership positions were perceived as being every bit as effective as men. In fact, while the differences were not huge, women scored at a statistically significantly higher level than men on the vast majority of leadership competencies we measured. Women were rated as excelling in taking initiative, acting with resilience, practicing self-development, driving for results, and displaying high integrity and honesty. In fact, they were thought to be more effective in... 84% of the competencies that we most frequently measure." A very interesting study done on the effectiveness of woman leadership. I'd go as far to say that we should take the conversation away from gender and towards energy - that is, in the new paradigm of leadership, feminine energy is more effective than masculine energy. After all, most of the competencies listed in the study are feminine traits.

03.01.2022 Love this article! Clients who want to change their organisational culture often ask what the secret is. It's all about building habits. Culture change can feel huge but if you stay committed to practicing small habits one day at a time, consistently, then over time your workforce's mindsets and behaviours will change. There are so many parallels to change in your personal and organisational life. Let's start using the lessons we know as humans and applying them to the workplace. #worklifeintegration #wellbeing #organisationdevelopment #OD #organisationalculture #transformationalchange #change #culture #leadership

03.01.2022 The positivity that has come out of the global pandemic means that people are reconnecting with themselves more, what matters to them, and the simplicities of life. I love this blog and the simple messages it shares. #5 is my particular favourite, as it is a message that we, at Humans Who Lead, have long nurtured in the workplace so that we can thrive. Now is the time. Let us make it a priority to reconnect with our humanity, our being. Though we are physically distant from one another, we are emotionally connected in powerful ways.

02.01.2022 Our first session created a space for people to talk openly about systemic racism, white privilege, and marginalisation. The stories shared are a critical first step to understanding where we all come from, making sense of our roles as potential anti-racists, and creating space for empathy to stand with our BIPOC community. If you missed the conversation, we will be hosting another one on 5 Aug from 6:30-8:30pm EST (6 Aug from 8:30am-10:30am AEST Sydney time). Registration ...is open and there a few spots left. This is a donation based event and proceeds will go to ESTACI, a Virginia based nonprofit that supports African American community building and education. https://matrixleadership.com/diversity/ Hope to see you there! #diversity #inclusion #equity #humanity
