07.01.2022 FIRIS would like to thank the parent who wrote to the NSW Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell MLC expressing their concern at the reintroduction of SRE and SE...E in term 3 and who shared with us the DoE’s response. If the provision of SRE and SEE area part of the essential requirements of schools, why is it that schools that don’t have SRE are allowed by the Department to miss out on this essential requirement? If it’s essential, why is it provided by non-teachers following curricula over which the Department has zero control? What is essential about the Department-enforced religious segregation of children from Kindergarten onwards? Essential requirements is sophistry officially backed by the Department. That’s why they don’t enforce their own policies about SRE, and constantly fob off everyone *except* outsiders who want to go into schools to convert children, usually without informed parental consent.
